in a moment of boredom i decided to read the torygrapth. they have a bit of 'wronguns' or left handers as they are known in the trade.. i write with my left hand and use scissors left handed..everything else i use right handed, srewdrivers, marlboro lights, pint glases, darts etc etc.. the greatest problems with writing lefthanded that i can remember were those fancy chairs with the desk built into the arm, the right arm natch, scissors, smudging the crap out of everything i wrote and being unable to write in a straight line on plain paper (its goes downhill after about 2 words) also those note pads with spring type binder things are a pain in the [****!!****] unless you use em upside down...

despite writing left handed i have no extra skill at using my left hand for anything else other than throwing a frisbee which i can do equally well with either.. i throw a ball with my left hand like a girl same as all right handers...

any other wronguns out there?

Yes, me. I write left-handed, bat and bowl (cricket & ten-pin) and throw left-handed, everything else is right, golf, tennis, lifting glasses etc. I gave up trying to write years ago, apart from my signature which is just a scrawl now. I kick left-footed as well, sadly now restricted only to the cat.

Yep, I play cricket, and eat, the right-handed way, but I do just about everything else with my left. Did you know it has been suggested that we die on average 3.5 years earlier than our more conventional friends? Apparently we're more likely to have fatal accidents with things like tin openers, and boomerangs, or something like that. Sounds like nonsense to me.

my handwriting is shocking..

it does seem that most righthanders do everything righthanded and us persucuted minirity group lefties mix it around a bit..

when it comes to football my left foot is solely for standing on..

Left handed and left footed people generally more accurate than right sided people (says science bods) as it is the right side of the brain the determines accuracy (right side of brain feeds left hand and vice versa)

I remember seeing that. I think I also saw another article pointing out the flaws in the argument.

I think they looked at the proportion of left-handers (by some definition or other) in each age group and saw that the proportion declined with age. They didn't take account of the fact that in the past many left-handers were forced to use their right hand, thus distorting the figures.

Yep CANV, I'm left-sided all the way...

 

Although I chew on the right side of my mouth, have better hearing in my right ear and see better with my right eye. Everything else is done with the left hand/foot etc.
