starting line up for city?

Thanks everyone for the info. Perhaps you can help with another point.

I thought that due to the cancellation of friendlies etc.the playing budget had been restricted. We have therefore released players. So how come when we get the opportunity to look at alternatives that cost nothing we field a team featuring at least 5/6 trialists who surely are looking around good clubs such as ours (although why they haven't found one yet remains a mystery) with a view of securing some kind of contract ?

Am I missing something ?

Good point, but I'd offer an answer in that the Ressie's had a game last night as well, so in total the club needed somewhere in the region of 30 players to fulfil both fixtures without the majority of the first team squad being involved. That said, it probably would have made sense as you say Mr C Taker for the reserves to play the HCC and the trialists the reserve game, but perhaps the trialists wouldn't have wanted to play in the reserves so we'd have had to cancel a game. Who knows? But the lads who did play at Hitchin from the reserves did well and I'm sure would have impressed C&C, so the excercise wasn't entirely wasted.

Good point but the ressies have had up to, and over, 25 people training at some stage so getting enough to play Stotfold would not have been a problem if C and C needed 3 or 4 more for a look pre season. Besides surely the reserves exist to provide a supply for the first team, if possible, at little or no cost or again have I missed something.

On a separate point, is the bar okay for Saturday v Canvey. Could be a few in so maybe we need to open before the game for bigger games ?

Have you seen fixtures, maybe we need to discuss ?

I agree the Ressies should be the first team supply in times of need, but perhaps a couple of the trialists last night have been longer term targets? Don't know. Cooky's the man to settle this one!

Re Saturday, you will be in the capable hands of Miss Baxter (& sister I believe). I shall get her to open before the game, although I think she was going to anyway. I've seen the fixtures on the website, but I'll be coming straight after Carshalton to the bar as we have a do in the evening so if you hang around for another bud we can chat then.
