starting line up for city?

Let's just say it could have been better! Two big name withdrawals and various injuries certainly haven't helped.

My lineup for Carshalton would be: Wilmot, Gledhill, Naylor, Brown, Campbell, Graham, Glynn, Oakes, Smith, McDonnell, Tomlinson but I suspect Cookie may play a more defensive midfield, possibly 3-5-2 (sorry AFF!).

Naylor is suspended, Rob and I cannot see Glynn, Tomlinson and Smith being fit. I think De Souza may also be on holiday.

The likely line-up for Saturday, as I see it :

Wilmot; Gledhill, Brown, Seeby, Campbell; Graham, Deacon, Castle, Oakes; McDonnell, Martin.

Subs - Wraight, White plus 3 from the Reserves.

I'm not saying it is the team I'd pick. I would play Wraight and Deacon in midfield, with Castle on the bench, concentrating on the coaching.

perhaps we will score 85 plus league goals and the defence that let in 65 goals last season won't need protecting...i do hope so...we clearly have some good skilful footballers...perhaps Glynn will be the dominating central mid-fielder,when fit, perhaps Deacon will be effective, could be....perhaps Steve Castle will get younger....i am just a bit anxious....i want to see us winning consistently....

I don't know anything about football, M&S, but I am absolutely certain that Steve Castle won't get any younger.

Deacon had another very good game last night. He was my MotM. Glynn has a back injury, apparently but played the first half. He appears to be a 'ball-winner'. Gary Wraight was one of the absentees last night but his best position is inside on the right side of midfield where he is a ball-winner. I ought to mention that to Cookie as he seems to persist in playing t'lad wide on the right.

I don't think that Smith is injured, just, shall we say, lacking match fitness.

Tomlinson has a knee injury.

Rumours surround the departure of Ryan but I don't pass on rumours.

The side played very well last night. Good football. Parsons replaced Glynn for the second half and will be pleased with his contribution. Seeby looked the part once again. The full backs did very well. However, one of the problems with these Reserves is that they don't seem to know how to hoof the ball. They keep it on the ground and seem to want to use the thing.

You say that you want to see the side winning consistently, M&S, and so do I. I want to win every game. Last night showed me that we have strength in depth through the Reserve team which is good for the future. I presume that there is a 3 year plan or whatever. Bring 'em on, I say. Good football, too.

Worrying, isn't it, AFF. You see it, I see it, everyone sees it, except C and C that is. When do you reckon it will eventually sink in?

Sorry to join a bit late in the day but the report says 5 of the first team squad played last night, with the 3 lads who have played with the reserves, Lawal, Parsons and "Gibbo" that makes 8, so who made up the other 6 ? (3 to start the game and one assumes 3 subs).

Can someone supply the line up ?

From what I remember he was quality, however that was at under 18 level.

When I was at Protec we won quite a lot of games fairly easily, 6 or 6 nil, so I'm not really in a position to comment. What was he like yesterday ?

We won a lot of games courtesy of Steve Morrison, we could be playing cr*p and he'd get 3. Let's hope he does a similar job at Northampton, for him, not them.
