The cost of having a professional firm to undertake the top dressing of the pitch preparatory to the coming season was too expensive to authorise at the present time as the priority of the Directors has been the settlement of Taxes and so avoid any future difficulties. As reported at the AGM last evening the Club has only current creditors to meet and the Directors do not have a bottomless pit or a money tree to harvest!! We are looking to work within a budget to ensure that we remain on a stable footing and, in these difficult economic times, we are not alone amongst businesses looking to make savings where possible.

 

For the last 3 years a professional firm has carried out the work of top dressing but in discussion with the groundsman it was agreed that this work would be carried out in house.The cost of this work was in the region of £4-5000 each time and we do employ a groundsmen and have engaged an assistant to help him with the task.

Spot on, i think they do a fantastic job, they are just as important as the players who use the pitch.

I didn't think that this needed an official comment from the club myself, as I think MOST people on here understood the reasons behind it. However another well done to the club for responding so quickly and positively.

 

I really look forward to reading something new everyday now on the Club site and get really upset when there isn't anything new after 24 hours!!!.
