Stuart Blackburne

We know that Rudi is staying.

The Concorde site says that Stuart "has agreed to signing" for them. Many a slip twixt cup and lip. Stuart going is a great loss to the club as I thought that he was the best striker, bar none, for the first half of last season we have ever had but his form did dip after his injury. I wish him well and feel if he recovers some of that lost form he will be a threat to the Premier League defences. He is certainly up to premier league standard at his best and is a player that I would have hoped to have kept.

However he has gone and we move on. I feel sure that the present management can find an able replacement and look forward to seeing the new strikers having had the privilege of seeing Stuart at, what I believe, was his best.

'Agreed to join them?????' that can also result in a change of mind as well.

If Stuart is reading this then my advice is that he should only leave if he is unhappy. He is amongst family and long term friends with the ETFC team and from my experience that's sometimes if not all the time worth more than joining a club 50 miles up the road for a few shillings more in your pocket.

If I was in his boots I'd rather see him lead ETFC to promotion than help Concord Rangers consolidate a Premier Division place, as when he gets older it will give him far greater satisfaction.

But i'm not Stuart however I am of a more experienced opinion.

Having caught up with Steve a couple of days back , Steve has confirmed that Stuart is considering an offer from Concord only from the perspective of testing himself at a higher level. He loves Enfield Town and it will be a difficult decision if he decides to go down this route. Steve having spoke to Stuart knows that it is not a done deal nor is it definite that he will chose to stay with us.

Stuart knows how much Steve , Jason and Rudi and the rest of the squad , not to mention us fans want him to stay , and he has stated that it is only the lure of the next level that is tempting , he knows how much the fans like him and he knows that Enfield has been good for him as well as him good for us.

We shall wait and see how this develops over the next couple of weeks.

Just read in the Gazette

Stuart has signed for Boreham Wood but has dual registration with ETFC.

Interesting times. I can see Stuart playing next season for BW in the early part of the season but what happens if ETFC are successful with Adam, Liam and Fabio banging in lots of goals. BW decide to use Stuart as sub or does not gain a regular first team place will Steve change a winning side?

I know all ifs and buts however at this time of year what else is a fan to do.

Good luck to Stuart, If he'd gone to Concord I'd be puzzled as they are not a quality set up to move to from ETFC, no disrespect to them but just realism. By Stuart going to BWFC he has found a local senior club playing BSS level footy. Plus if you have not been to BWFC lately then you would also be unaware of the vast improvements of Facilities at their club which is developing into a very classy set up. Good Luck Stuey, and if it does not turn out well, then i'm sure Steve would'nt refuse you a return ticket.
