Cray away last season-conceded in second half to spectacularly again snatch defeat from victory-i thought the last 2 goals were reminiscent of how we conceded on that rainy day.

Still, thank goodness its all over, we can concentrate on proper football ;and people can appreciate the value of non league football.

I am ashamed to say I was one of millions of hopeful supporters that thought that we (as a team) might progress further into the tournament and that all the hype and speculation about the team getting better as the World Cup gathered momentum was unfortunately like asking the Dragons to come and sponsor MFC - NO HOPE!!!

One of the worst performances from an England team I have witnessed so far (not forgetting USA & Algeria - who were mediocre at best) we all kid ourselves that maybe just maybe its our year our turn and surely these "individual" stars will shine on the big stage and prove they are worth the many millions of pounds that are thrown at them - reality is we were beaten by a classy German team with typical flair and aplomb. Time now to realise (hard medicine I know) that we are just a small footballing nation with the majority of the better players in our esteemed "Premier League" being from foreign shores. It galls me to think of how much has been spent on these well overpaid prima donnas to bolt home the fact that WE ARE JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH.......

Would'nt it be fantastic if just say 5% of the 600000 fools who spend alot of money every weekend weatching premiership and championship football, decided to spend just £10 watching a non league game.

I guess the downside is that the FA will not have the funding to increase the size of the FA cup and trophy prize money pool-

however-we all know the rules-

Margate do not win cup games.

( i think we find out later this week who our customary first round defeats will be against next season )

In the case of Germany they realised 10 years or so ago that their own youngsters were not coming through. they took a long hard look at themselves, decided that action was needed. They made the decision to build an academy system that not only offered youngsters the teaching of football but also looked after the intellectual side of their lives. They did not just limit it to the pure Germanic kids but opened it wide to encompass the kids of immigrant families. look at the result . you have players who could qualify for teams such as Tunisia, Poland, Spain. Most of these players were around 10 when they joined the system.

What are we doing about it? Building an over priced stadium in the wrong place with the wrong configuration. All that moey and no one gave a thought as to what nature needed to grow the grass on the pitch.

What should we be doing? Building the academy at Burton on Trent, not still discussing it.

Great piece on the BBC last night after the Argie game about Sir Stanley Mathews and the effect of his coaching Schools in the development of South African football. Also touched on his connections in south America but not to much about his influence in North America. As Stoke supporters and readers of the Staffordshire evening sentinel we were kept abreast of his work. and the work of Modern players such as Salif Diouf. Also this world cup as brought to light the work people like Drogba do in Africa.

Going back to our players, they will fly back when ever,"who cares" no doubt walk of the plane out the door, then back through another op on to a plane and P**S Off to some were like Barbados to rest. personally i hope( if they are worth the interest) the paparazzi pester the life out of them.

Roll on our new season, one thing about "Iain's" team, no one will be hiding .

Its an absolute disgrace. Those over paid tossers don't give a toss about losing to the Germans. You only have to look at the smiles on there faces in preparing to arrive back in the UK. People should stop supporting these big clubs and watch grass roots football ie there local clubs. I think there should be a cap on Players wages and non league clubs should become nursery clubs again like Margate were to Arsenal. For me this world cup has indicated the impact that many foreign players in the Premiership has had. It has obviously affected the national side. Rant Over!!!

Just really underlined to me why I have fallen out of love so much with supposed 'top-class' football. Talk of players like Lampard, Gerrard and Terry being some of the world's best players is absolutely ridiculous; they might look good when surrounded by good players at club level, but the reality of it is that, in fact, they are very average. Probably the worst defensive display I've ever seen from an England team. Could go on and on, but the simple truth is that it's time for the 'superstars' to step aside. Move them all on and get some of the younger players into the international team. Oh, and while you're there, get a new manager as well. Capello is so tactically naive, it's unbelievable.
