Trenkel, Gilley and Savidge leave

Dan Trenkel has gone back to Wakering after failing to make any impression in pre season. To give him some credit at least he's made a positive step rather than sit on his [****!!****] all year. Unfortunately I believe that his "friends" bid him up a bit too much and expectations were high. If he can get himself fit he can still be a decent player.

Nick Savidge and Danny Gilley have joined up with Shelton at Barking. A sensible move for Nick who I think will now be playing at a level that suits him better but a major mistake in my opinion for Gilley who should have stuck it out here - He will go backwards now.

I believe that Jamie Dormer who scored our opening goal on Saturday will sign for the club this week.

I think Gilley's always going to have problems with his fitness - major operation on his lung at the back end of last season - and I guess he felt that with Reddington, Scarborough, Penn and Edinburgh (When/if fit) all ahead of him in the pecking order for defenders that his chances were going to be very much limited. If he can overcome his fitness problems and get plenty of first team experience I would see no reason why he couldn't return to the premier division some time in the future, hopefully with us.

Similarly with Nicky Savidge, he's behind Sam Taylor and Henty for the left back berth and I guess he'll be first choice at Barking. Think a move to div 1 is a good idea for both players, but I wouldn't have thought Barking would be the best option.

Trenkel hasn't looked fit or sharp this pre-season. He came with a big reputation that unfortunatley he hasn't lived up to. Again, if he can get himself fit, lose a the few excess lbs and get back into the goals then I'm sure he'll be able to make the step up again.
