In the immense heat, Canvey Island FC mananged to finish off their Pre-Season campaign on a high beating Ryman Division 1 North team Great Wakering Rovers 4-1.

Ollie Berquez scored two goals on 15 and 20 minutes. His first hit the bottom of the bar and across the line, his second was a well placed effort into the bottom corner of the net.

On 40 minutes Jeff Minton scored a cracking goal from outside the penalty area, thundering home into the top-left corner.

With the minutes running out Lee Boylan scored Canvey's fourth and put the final nail in the Wakering coffin. But not before Danny Scopes pulled one back for Rovers.

I feel sorry for the lads having to play in that heat. It was uncomfortable standing in the shade, so I can't imagine what it would feel like to run around the pitch for 90 minutes would be like. Even so, very professional display from a team that look to have found their form at the right time for the start of the season.
