Ryman target for Ramblers

Recommended Posts

NEW manager Keith Wilson is keen to guide Burnham Ramblers into the Ryman League

The club’s former captain has made the switch to management following the departure of Garry Kimble to become assistant boss at Aveley FC.

Wilson will be assisted by Burnham’s former director of football Dave Patience and he has already made another experienced appointment by adding ex-Bishop’s Stortford assistant manager Paul Joyce as first-team coach, the Maldon & Burnham Standard is reporting.

Wilson said: “There are some good sides in the Essex Senior League and then there are some poor sides, but we are looking to be one of the good sides.

“If we go about our business in the right way then we will be there or thereabouts.

“I’ve played most of my football in the Ryman League at Hornchurch, East Thurrock, two spells at Great Wakering and Tilbury before finishing as captain at Burnham and it is in the Ryman League where we want to get.

“All the people who behind the scenes at Burnham work so tirelessly all year deserve to go to places in the Ryman League and I want to deliver that. I’m not going to say we will win the Essex Senior League this year, but we will definitely compete at the right end of the table.

“With the people and all the facilities we have here, this is a Ryman League club.

“This is my first appointment and I’m sure I will make mistakes, but with Joyce and Patience, I know I have got good experience behind me.

“It will be difficult, though, as we potentially have Grays coming into the league.

“Also Witham are there as well and clubs like Stansted and Bethnal Green.”
