The pitch

Whilst it seemed to end the season in pretty fine fettle any way; it seems the club normally do a bit of remedial and improvement work on the pitch in the close seas0n-even if funds limit it to just top dressing.

(whilst overall in great shape,i thought that the grass looked a bit more yellow than normal for alot of last season )

I can't see the club being quite so lucky with the weather next season ( whilst cold in jan and feb-no heavy rain in october/november last season which is when the early non revoverable damage is usually done) .

I simply wondered if any particular pitch preparations were occurring ?

Water is being applied to the pitch as usual by Ray.

When I left Friday afternoon the spray was falling on our" field of dreams". Today was a little cooler with partial cloud cover so no doubt helping to lessen the evaporation rate.

re-assuring to know that we can afford to 'water'.

Cheers.

I wonder if sponsorship could be obtained for the utility bills.

See no reason why sponsors signage could not be put on the floodlight pylons.

Why not similarly the urinals like you get advertising at motorway service stations.

Yes Michael pitch repairs are under way at this moment , Top dressing ,overseeding and fertilising, plus watering it all in.

The work has become a nightmare as it all has to be done

by hand , pushing 20 tons of soil onto the pitch one barrow at a time in this heat is no joke. The job is normally done by a

professional firm who have all the machinery and complete it

in a day, leaving us to water and nurse it through to the start

of the season. Could not have firm in this year we were told,

so thats why its being done manually.

The pitch is very vunerable in hot weather ,drys out very fast,

and without a proper watering system the odds are heavily stacked against us in keeping it green.

Hopefully though the pitch will be playable by the middle of August.

It sounds a good idea to maybe have some sponsorship or something along those lines from anyone interested in what goes on as far as repairs to the pitch at the end of season are concerned ,as we always end up struggling financially to get it done,Then again i suppose most clubs do
