New Signings

Recommended Posts

Okay, it's only early June, so a long way to go before pre-season starts but there does not appear to be any movement to improve the team. Not in the public domain anyway.

Certainly other teams appear to be making a move with East Thurrock making a few good signings, which will make them stronger than last season.

Any rumours ?

The only fact I know is that Capello said he does'nt want any transfer's or discussions on transfers til the World Cup is over. Total focus. And I agree 100%

I understand that John Terry wants to continue the tradition of his family members playing for an Enfield Club.

He said that the digitally challenged do not add up.

I understand that the new signings at the end of last season were just as cover in case of an injury crisis after the deadline at the end of March. It would appear from what im hearing that all of the squad from last year appear commited to returning to the club to have another crack at promotion. The only talk around possible absentees is the talk about Stuart Blackburne possibly moving on.

New signings there are one or two from what I understand as possibles but from what i can gather there are one or two clubs throwing wallets around and I beleive one or two of Steve's possible targets have decided to go elsewhere , ( for a few dollars more ).

No doubt there will be a few new faces at pre season and these pre season games will give potential new signings the chance to prove their abilities compared to last seasons lads , who nearly got us promoted in their first full season together. I understand there are one or two possible Roberto Mancini's coming to pre season from abroad.

Steve will definitley look to improve the squad within the wage structure if he can do so , but im sure if we start with the majority of the lads from last season we wont go far wrong.

Ultimately as what happens at most clubs at this level one or two will move on and one or two will come in.

??? does anyone think we need a major overhall with the squad anyway ???

Well, it looks like we do now need a goal scoring centre forward, plus we could do with a "holding" midfield player.

Certainly been a lot of movement and players signing on around the league so far - so let's hope we have a couple in line !

Holding on to last seasons players is probably more important to Steve and the management team , than necessarily getting new lads on board. So I see 12 have re signed , and Im sure a few more will re sign over this coming week as they return from holidays etc... . From what i can see starting with the main core from last season plus maybe one or two new faces will stand us in good stead.

Should be good news for you guys !

Mr Blackburne has decided the travelling was a little much.

We wish him well.

We can all be experts in this case, but the facts are that the travelling would have in the end had driven him up the wall, it's not as if he'd be getting £1m a season for his troubles. He would have had to take into account of a similar winter to last season. He is very well respected and loved by everyone at ETFC in the short time he has been here plus he has friends and family within the club. All this far out ways (in my view) the Concord appeal.

No dis-respect to Concord but if I were Stuart I'd only move to if a bigger more established Prem/Conf South club came in for him. In the meantime he can forget moving and just help us to promotion then he would'nt need to move.

No ! You lot left once we beat you !:brille008:

Steady now!!! You only beat us (deservedly over the 90 mins) just like the Germans did England, but we had a stonewall Pen for 2-2 just like Lampard did and who knows what would have happened after that.

One things for sure you still can't sufficiently attract our players to your club

Good luck in the Prem

Good luck to concord but if stu resides to stay taking everything into perspective I think he's made the right choice! If concord wer a established club at that level then fair do's but I can't see them higher than the bottom of the pile! But all the best to them and hopefully stu has made the best choice

I understand that the following signed at training tonight. Stuart Blackburne, Michael Bardle ( fresh back from holidays in Ibiza ), Phil Kane and Jason Holmes. That makes 16 . Steve also has a few lads who are new to the club to have a look at in the upcoming friendlies and one or two old faces who have returned to the club after moving to other pastures and add to that the 3 or 4 from last years squad who have yet to sign due to holdays etc... Hopefully a few of the new lads or old faces will cut the mustard and give Steve plenty of nice problems come 21st August.
