Wilson promoted at Burnham Ramblers

Recommended Posts

FOLLOWING the departure of Garry Kimble to Aveley, Burnham Ramblers have appointed club captain Keith Wilson as their new manager. He will be assisted by Dave Patience, who was director of football at Leslie Field while Kimble was boss.

Wilson brings plenty of experience in the non-league game into the role, having played at Great Wakering Rovers in the Ryman League and it was from there that he joined Ramblers in late 2008, the Maldon & Burnham Standard is reporting.

In the 18 months that he has been at Leslie Field, Wilson has earned the respect of the players and club press officer Nigel Radcliffe said that was a key factor in his appointment.

Radcliffe said: “It is Keith’s first managerial appointment, but he has a wealth of experience in terms of playing at a higher level.

“He was at Wakering for a long time and played there in the Ryman League and he also has so many contacts in the local game.

“Working with limited resources, which we are, contacts like Keith has are invaluable.

“You do need to have contacts to persuade people to make that journey out to Burnham.

“But because the facilities we have here are way above anyone else in the Essex Senior League, when we get people out here, they tend to like what they see.

“I think Keith will look to Keep hold of as many as he can from last year’s squad.

“The success we have had means it will not be possible and some of the impressive youngsters will move on as we can’t compete with what is being offered to some of them.

“But with this appointment, we are hoping they will show loyalty.”
