Yeah, their first team coach told me this morning that they had tied up a deal with Broxbourne. He said that he used to play for them, so his links played a part. Don't be surprised to see them go well next season. Obviously they will encounter tougher opposition at Step 6, but they play some attractive football whilst not letting in many goals.

so what is happening to Broxbournes new reserve team

They aren't going into the SSML. that's for sure.

With regards to London Lions promotion from the Herts Senior County League to Step 6 Spartan South Midlands League 1.

I was under the impression that they had to have spent at least half a season groundsharing with their prospective landlords, in this case Broxbourne, before promotion could be achieved.

Could someone clarify this for me please.

Didn't Hatfield Town fall foul of this regulation in the past ?

Thanks

A little knowledge can be a misleading thing! Currently, a club must have an acceptable groundshare in place before they win promotion. Where this is terminated by the host club, it is permissible to transfer the groundshare to another host club. London Lions obtained the approval of both the FA and the SSML to take up a groundshare at Broxbourne Borough after St Albans City, with whom they had been groundsharing during 2009-10, broke the agreement so that they could run a reserve side - ironically in SSML 1 with London Lions as one of their opponents!

Thank you. That is most informative and helpful.

Good luck to London Lions next season. I'm sure they will follow in the Herts County League tradition and acquit themselves well at the supposedly higher level.

It's a pleasure Conrad.

It's a shame they couldn't develop their ground at Arkley. That has to be one of the best playing surfaces around Steps 5-7 in the area.

They will one day. Especially if they do well in the SSML.
