World Cup Tipping competition

USA...i was meant to say wont progress beyond the Quarter's.....but then as Greavsie said, 'It's a funny old game'.

Think England should go for 2nd place in the table, USA v Ghana would be an interesting game, and the England v Germany, be honest they beat the Aussies 4-0, who did beat us 3-1 at Upton Park in the 'Sven sets new record for subs' friendly a few years back.

But let's be honest, Australia and football is like Rhodes and common sense, it's not realistic, is it?

So England v Germany, 5-1 fresh in their memories....truth, I think we'd nail them, even on penalties, I think we would.

I see it's New Zealand v Slovakia today, those sort of games don't really do a World Cup any favours or justify it being a 32 Country tournament

No, he didn't! It was said by Harry Enfield when voicing Jimmy Greaves' Spitting Image puppet in the television series.

You need to get out more

I went to 333 football matches in 2009/10 and 412 the season before.

Football Man - See that's exactly what I mean about you, you only go to all these games to be seen and to be 'the Big Man' however the winter we had really threw a spanner in your works didn't it

Steve - If Football Man is on Facebook he can look down my female Friends list and take his pick, he can then message me to see if she is available

Don't knock it until you've tried it Sydney.

Rhodes, I've sent you a private message on your Facebook page about PingPong (Rangoon based, 80 kilos, red eyes, sunny disposition and a fat [****!!****]), she's just under Toto Temille.

If she's still available on a mail order basis, do you think it'd be possible to smuggle her out before the start of the next uprising. (Burma's......not mine.)

£60 tops, otherwise i'll go for Philomenia (140 kilos, green teeth and crooked eyes) Just keep it a bit quiet though.

I went to 333 football matches in 2009/10 and 412 the season before. I will be watching two matches in Llanelli on Saturday to start the 2010/11 season. I think I get out quite enough, thank you.

You need to stay in more, oh and dont thank me, its a pleasure.

  • 2 weeks later...

Round 2 then......and given some of the surprises to date I'm just glad I'm not a betting man.

Some of these I'm sure will end up going to pens.....especially if they are drab affairs like the Brazil v Portugal game was, let's hope attack minded is the policy, tho I somehow doubt it.

Uruguay v South Korea...both look good so tough to call.

Argentina v Mexico...have to fancy the Argies but wouldn't write off the Mexicans.

USA v Ghana...the Americans have a never say die attitude, again tough to call.

England v Germany...either a classic or the excitement of pens.

Holland v Slovakia...got to be the Dutch.

Japan v Paraguay...Japan

Brazil v Chile...no one bets against Brazil

Spain v Portugal...Portugal have been dire so hopefully Spain.

So what was the view on England's display yesterday afternoon, strangely enough had Lampard's goal been allowed and we had gone in 2-2 at half time it may well have been a different kettle of fish!

The squad's direand shambolic performance can't be hidden behind the 'ghost goal' that was never given.... The Germans out-played us in all areas of the field - Joachim Loew played a blinder tactically and they fully deserved the victory.

As I wrote this morning on the cold end -

A very gloomy statistic is that since 1966 England have only won against Paraguay, Belgium, Cameroon, Denmark and Ecuador in the knock out stages of the World Cup. With respect to the aforementioned countries it's a fact the English national team haven't beaten a major nation when it matters at the World Cup since that famous day when Bobby Moore lifted the Jules Rimet Trophy.

Going to enjoy the rest of the world cup now..... Roll on pre-season I think!!!

Who would have thought in a million years Paraguay would reach the last eight of the tournament

All it would have done was papered over the cracks, we were well and truly stuffed, in truth though we were poor in all 4 games, and if people think the Slovenia game was an improvement, an improvement to what?

In reality the whole tournament from England's perspective was shambolic, and Capello must take the crap he's getting for it, the saying 'You can't fit round pegs into square holes'....well left midfield was a round peg and certainly Gerrard didn't fit in there, Heskey, a Villa sub as our front man, Crouch, our most consistent goalscorer of recent times on the bench....then Upson, picked to play v Germany, Ferdinand was choice number 1 but injured, King must have been number 2 but got injured, Carragher was 3 but got suspended, so we were left with either Upson or Dawson as 4th choice....and despite King and Carragher being available we go with choice number 4.

The Algeria game, a team who hasn't scored a goal in open play for 6 previous games, so not a real threat, what does Capello do, opt for a holding midfielder, wot a twat.

So no Cliff.....had Lampards goal counted it would not have hidden what was eveident above in truth

Got to agree with the Ref. 100% right in everything you say. Glen Johnson isn't a right back as you previously predicted too. The most shambolic predictable amateurish performance from...A COACH...Ive ever seen.

Yes we were awful but were the players ever really given a chance though?

The sooner Ashley Cole crawls back under the stone he came from the better. He epitomises everything about a modern footballer that the public hate Stupid, arrogant, small minded, cheating (on and off the pitch) greedy, vain, shallow, conceited, and most of all no loyalty or honour playing for his country. He is good but is he really that important to the team. Not a chance.
