Reprieves

Recommended Posts

With Merthyr about to resign from the Southern League, Ashford Mdsx seem to have turned down the chance of a reprieve, as they had a better PPG than third bottom Southern Prem side Hemel Hempstead. But surprisingly they have turned it down. That means Hemel will now stay in the Southern Prem next season.

A door may now be open for Waltham Abbey though, albeit a slim one. Ashton Utd of the Unibond Prem face going under after being forced to pay huge damages to an opponent injured in a 'bad tackle' a few years back. If they do fold, Waltham Abbey are next in line for a reprieve under the PPG system, if the FA decide to reprieve teams using this method for this circumstance. Otherwise, it will be done in-division, so the Unibond Prem bottom club Durham, who had a much publicised season from hell with no money and only two wins, would get the reprieve - though in their state they may be best to do an Ashford and turn it down if it comes along.

All may be sorted within the next fortnight....
