a very good performance this evening from the boys despite going down 0-1, our rock at the back was once again young Kevin Marsden a real captains effort by him and by the way it was never a penalty ref.....

Aaah you beat me to it.

Tonight's game was very enjoyable - full of good passing football. We looked the strongest until the 27th minute when we conceded a penalty which was converted by Shane Tudor. The penalty was debateable but it's one of those which some refs give and some don't.

It took a little while for us to get going in the second half but once we did it was the Cambridge keeper who kept our side of the scoresheet empty with some excellent stops from Steve West and Andy Finlay. Oh, and Paul Wood made a couple of great saves as well.

Videos of the penalty for you to analyse and one of Woody's saves are on the website.

here's a few interesting facts for you all to ponder on...

I spoke to the Cambridge Manaager after the game...he is THE manager of the club....

he has a first team squad of 21 players...they were all at the stadium last night....

he didn't say how many that played would be his starting eleven but even so....fair play to him for bringing them all down...

nice bunch of guys and well mannered to boot...

his entire yearly budget for the team and management is 500 grand....

throws a few things intp perspective about life in the big leagues...

also throws a few new perspectives on the game last night...despite losing to the only goal from a penalty...we controlled the game and really should have had 3 or 4..their goalie made two superb point blank saves....

their Manager was very complimentary about the Stadium set up....offered us a visit up there next year and also stated that we had a good chance of winning our league....

makes all the hard work and critisism worthwhile....

well done to all the guys last night....especially Kevin Marsden who was magnificent under difficult circumstances...

well done Kevin.

Yeah i was really impressed last night, the game was played in great spirit and there were lots of bright sparks.

Special Mention To Kevin and Ollie Who held their own in defense against a very capable strike force and Paul Wood who saved us many a time in the match.

From where i was standing i'll have to say it did look like a penalty, i had a better view than the ref, right in front of me it was, but Marso was convinced he got the ball, so who knows.

Good performance, but perhaps the lads were playing their hearts out for Sir Mick as they probably have a good idea about the truth!!

Didn't see Moulds there last night, what has happened to him then, anyone know??

Marso always plays well, why the special praise for last night's performance??

Perhaps they were or maybe playing for their places, you will have to ask them that question.

Marso got special praise because it must be tough playing when your Dad has just resigned as manager. Marso always get's praise on here because he deserves it !

I really would be surprised if they do, you know. Did you ask the people at the club what they thought about the situation? Why he left? On what terms he left on?

I very much doubt you did. Opinions are opinions. But your fingers are typing BS.

Who are you? Are you a new member or someone who wishes to remain anonymous as I've noticed you only logged on when the news about Mr Marsden Snr broke.

Mmmmmm .... blinkered vision will get you no-where!!

Opinions are opinions and facts are facts, we've seen opinions but heard no facts or answers.

Mick resigns, Gary Moulding disappears, George Borg is put in charge for now, the unsuccessful Gary Calder sniffing around again and an a

re-appearance by Terry Glynn last night.

There you go LMH.............no opinions there, just facts but still no answers.

Guess you missed all this, as your rose tinted glasses don't allow you to focus outside the good bits!!

Just concerned for everyone at the club that the wool is being pulled over many eyes, aren't you??

I guess I am allowed to write this, even though I am a new forum user, or do I have to bow down to people's ego's to use this forum.

Write what you like. I just think you're jumping to conclusions, as you write, without knowing the facts.

I am not supporting the club, nor am I siding against it. I just think people should keep an open mind as to the circumstances surrounding Micks departure, as I try to do in all aspects of life as I find it benificial in the long run.

From what I have heard, Micky Marsden is a private man and likes to keep things close to his chest. Therefore, it could well be the case that he does not want such information to be made public. But as I have written, I don't know why he left.

Little Miss Hurchin (apparently).

guys please....dont bother...facts are facts...MM has gone...Gary Moulding has gone...Tery Glynn is back and George is in charge in the interim....

those are the facts....there is no 'conspiracy' as this person wouud like to believe...life goes on....

the football club is bigger than all of us.....

and everyone....

its a company and companies are run by shareholders who appoint directors to run the company...

some decisions have been made and a few people dont like those decisions...

well...two in particular is all....maybe three....

does it matter what they think....

it wont change will it....

if these people wanna run the club....fine...let 'em do it.....

tempus fugit.....

Please forgive me for asking, but is this the same Terry Glynn that left the club last summer saying [and i quote]:

"This is an unprofessional tin-pot set up and I wouldn't want to be involved here again"

Why would we re-employ someone who slags the club off?

Perhaps you know different then UU??

With a comment like this and whoever his comments were directed at, surely we couldn't trust his heart being fully in it.

With this and the fact he has no experience at coaching, it seems a strange choice to bring him back.

terry Glynn is an experienced ex professional football player. He has a wealth of experience and Mick brought him to the club last year as a scout.

as you will be aware...HFC had an alarming drop off in form after xmas this year and Mick elevated Terry to assistant manager. We won 12 and drew one of the thirteen games that Terry was involved in...

thereby winning promotion which was vital for the club...and also nearly nicking the championship...

Coincidence...maybe...who knows....

anyway....it was a surprise to all when Terry was not offered a first team role in this seasons campaign...what happened next I am not to sure about but words were exchanged and sometimes things are taken out of context...anyway...Terry left...so did Peter Gredley...

as a result of the resignation of Mick...Gary was asked to leave the club....the players overwhelmingly requested the return of Terry Glyn to assist George in his caretaker roll...George agreed to that request...

there is really no agenda here....football is a transient business...players move...managers come and go....Mick has gone and good luck to him in the future...Gary has gone and good luck to him as well...but the football club comes before everything...

George and Terry are now running the team...thats it...

the rest is history and the future beckons...there is little point in a continued post mortem of events....but...

its a forum...post away...

just as an afterthought...it really is great to see all these new registrations appearing on here..

even if they are all more interested in the events surrounding Micks leaving the club rather than the footie....
