Promotion denial to set Witham back 'a decade'

WITHAM Town chairman Tony Last fears missing out on promotion back to the Ryman League may set the club back ten years.Town are poised to make an official appeal to the Football Association, following their second place finish in the Essex Senior League – one which they believe should see them promoted back to Step 4.

 

League winners Stansted cannot accept promotion because of their ground grading.

 

Their appeal, which will cost the Spa Road club £50, has been held up as they are yet to receive a confirmation letter from the FA, the Braintree & Witham Times is reporting.

 

Chairman Last has reiterated his stance to fight the decision.

 

He said: “We will fight every step of the way.”
