No, the answer is Australia. They qualified from the Oceania section and then via a playoff. However, although they represented Oceania in Germany, they had in fact left the Oceania Confederation and joined the Asian Confederation effective from 1 January 2006.

 

Personally, I think the whinging Aussies should have been chucked out - if they want to be part of Asian football they should have qualified through the tougher Asian qualification route.
