Tait comes to Gate

Great news. Another terrific signing and just what we've been missing the past two seasons. A proper all out striker. The squad is taking shape pretty well and we look a lot stronger already. A positive signal to other potential signings.

That's great news, we signed the right Dartford striker.

I see that he joined Dartford last season because he wasn't enjoying being a squad player at Eastbourne in the Conference, unfortunately towards the end of the season that had become his role at Dartford. He should get to play in most games next season - so I hope he shows us what a good striker he is and let Dartford regret they dropped the wrong guy.

Don't see how we will regret it . He was injured nearly all season . He could only to seem to play one or two games and then would be out for another 4-6 weeks . We basically one the league without him. IF he can stay fit then he will be a good signing but don't expect to see him feature in too many games .

Yes 3 good signing who between them managed 18 games last season.

This time I tried a long response but my fingers point-blank refused to lower themselves to Slandersons level. He must be getting lonely on the Ramsgate forum again, especially as he has taken the time to carefully research our new signings.

Who's up for a whip-round to get Ian a custom made (doubt he'd fit an XXXL) Margate shirt to wear during his vigils listening to Gate Radio on Saturday afternoons?

(Might need several bucket collections to pay for all the material)

No? Thought as much.

he is a closet Margate supporter (but don't tell his Ram mates). He spends his time checking stats, who's coming and going etc etc and I bet he has even pledged money on the 'Your Name on the Shirt' campaign under a alias. Come on IS 'come out' be nice to see you at HDP....

The interpretation of IS's post is down to the individual.

factually, i suspect he is correct in terms of appearances-and does he not also state that they are good signings ?

Only time will tell if he is correct on that one !

Personally- i hope we get some up and coming players in now;as arguably-we now have enough 'experience'.

Have we been here before in 2006/7 under Trott ?-but at least this time they are under a decent manager in IOC

And the signings are being a made under a more sustainable budget regime too. The last couple of years have shown us that right now, there are not enough local players talented / experienced enough for the Ryman League Premier Division. The closest we got was with Robin, let's not forget. It will take time to get more local youngsters into the first team (and more of the club's plans in this direction will be announced in due course), but those that do seem to have the talent, also need to have the work ethic, committment, will to learn, be patient and keep their feet on the ground when they do get a chance. And that's true of any young player at any club at any level.

Forum_Troll_v1.gifWith the signings mentioned i also see Iain has now signed and the club have confirmed that at present Ty Benjamin, Sam Groombridge, John Keister, Aaron Lacy, Tommy Osborne, James Pinnock, Curtis Robinson, Jay Saunders, Dan Stubbs (upon his return from Iceland), Jamie Turner, Wayne Wilson and Jake Winchombe have also signed for next season you should and its only an opinion be in the play offs. elephant.gif elephant.gif elephant.gif elephant.gif

Agree with wellsie post above that realistically-there is insufficient local talent good enough for ryman.

I guess the ideal signing i like to see are players about 22/23 who have been playing in leagues maybe 1/2 steps below-but who can grow into players of ryman status (eg benjamin) or players odf similar age who have not quite made it at league clubs and come from league club reserve teams (dan young ) who are prepared to take a step back to rebuild their football career.

All guided by a manager who can gel them into a winning team and by coaching, can get an extra 10% out of them.

Is it It easier to get 10% improvement from younger players than more seasoned players who have been doing the same thing for years and thus may have peaked ?

Thats my ideal type of signing- but again-that is probably looking for the proverbial pin in a haystack, and no complaints about IOCs efforts to date-main thing is its getting sorted 'early doors'.

we are obviously way ahead of where we have been in previous seasons-plus it seems training starting one week earlier than normal, and season starting one week later-so we should be prepared for the early mad rush of games in the first two months

Up the 'gate
