Intresting appointments?

Mudge finished 6th from bottom in his last job

I think every windsor fan will snap your arm off for that right this second.

I think it's a shame to see Keith go and I wish him the best for the future - he's certainly made the last couple of years the most enjoyable for some time.

Don't know much about Mudge so won;t comment on his appointment, bit disappointed to see Byron back again, he wasn't great the 1st time round and hasn't been that impressive in his other managerial jobs - but like all things he will be judged on results not history - if we can achieve mid-table or 4th from bottom it will be a successful start to the role.

I also think that whilst sad to see scotty go, I am sure the board have taken what must have been a hugely difficult decision with only the best interests of the club in mind. How much easier would it have been to give in to a ludicrous players budget and then pray that the cash turns up - lots of clubs do that, some get lucky, alot dont.

This, from the outside world, demonstrates sound business and financial leadership in a very difficult economic climate

Any ambitious manager will naturally try to get a big budget in order to get success. However if the chairman chose him he should have known there would have been a pressure on finances, for me when Simon lane went and we looked for a new manager, we know mudge applied but didn't get the job, he has obviously bidded his time and stayed with windsor in his other capacity and ended up getting the job anyway. For me he probably has more afinity with windsor and will if given time achieve steady progress for the club and its not going to break the bank.

The season could be interesting in more ways than one, we could either have a fight on our hands or Mudge and Byron could surprise a few people.

I think you will have a fight on your hands because of the following:

Players leaving to follow the exiting manager (yes this happens a lot at non league level)

Reduced budget

Increased travel costs

Inability to attract players of Southern Premier standard due to lack of contacts

I hope you do well, but I think you will be relying on a few teams having similar issues as stated above. Not a dig, just being honest

Agree, what with a reduced playing budget, players having to travel A LOT further and Scotty coming back to poach your best players i.e. Chennels etc. I think you will be lucky to escape relegation next season.

I hope you avoid the drop but it will be tough.

Come to think of it, we need another forward next season, I'll have a word with Bateman to see if we can nick Chennels from you. wink.gif

With your money man Bundy pulling his money out are you expecting many players to leave? I guess at least he's left a decent legacy with the new ground and bigger fanbase?

In our local paper it CLAIMS that Scotty wanted a budget to help us compete at the top of the league next season. I want whatever he is taking!!!

I am not surprised Scotty has gone, and from a footballing side i am hugely disappointed, and seeing Byron coming in the disappointment hasn't really eased any.

But for the club i guess we have to now be realistic, with no extra income from a club sharing the ground, playing at a higher level the curretn crop of players will want paying more, especially if they perform well and we are near the top, and the extra travelling we have to ensure the club is sound.

I liked Scotty as a manager and as a person when you met him and talked to him. He wants what is best for him and for whichever club he is at, the same as every player and each of us with our work. No doubt he will poach some players, we will get to see which players do want to play for Windsor and which just want the money.

Having Mudge in there isn't the worst thing in the world (he's been at the club for a while, done some good work and very little wrong from what I can see), but i do wonder what Byron's role is going to be. You are only as good as your last game/job/appointment, so I will start next season with some trepidation, but Brian McLaren was laughed out of England and look at him now!!

Ah well, the joys of non league football, and I have total faith in Peter Simpson, so bring on the new season and maybe, with a bit of luck, an FA Cup run, that would be nice for a change.....

Intresting appointments?

Mudge finished 6th from bottom in his last job and Byron finished bottom on only 6 points in his last job!

I wish Windsor well, as with management quality of that standard you will need it!

The season that Burnham finished 6th from bottom, 2008/9, Mudge had resigned well before the end of the season, with about 17 games to go, so you can't blame him completely for that. The seasons before that he had finished 2006 14th, 2007 3rd and the play-offs, 2008 10th, as well as reaching the first round proper of the FA Cup in 2006. Not outstanding maybe but a lot better than you are giving him credit for! And to his credit, he is used to operating on a tight budget, brings young players through, and will talk to the fans........ so give him a chance!

This post seems to have started in our forum and spread over to Slough's (being they are our derby rival). Following this it has made it's way onto some of the League forums including Premier League, Stoke City!!! Mad hey, well not as mad Stoke being called a city, it's a right [censored] hole!
