Essex Herts & Bordering Counties Combination

Recommended Posts

I haven't seen any confirmation anywhere but I'm led to believe that the Essex & Herts Reserve League is to fold, due to a lack of clubs.

The League has been struggling for a few seasons now and with only 8 teams in it last season, clubs played each other 4 times. Next season, Bowers & Pitsea Ressies will be joining the Reserve sides of Stansted, Takeley, Burnham Ramblers and Sawbridgeworth Town in the Essex Olympian Football League.

Anyone aware of any other clubs from the E&H set to join the Olympian League?

Waltham Abbey say that their reserve side has been accepted into the EOL for next season too.

Pity really because the EH&BC used to have some good reserve teams in it. It seems that the EOL having four divisions with promotion & relegation and a tight geographical catchment area is becoming a much better proposition for clubs to place their reserve teams in to keep their financial overheads down.

sorry i dont want to be a pedant but Bowers and Pitsea wont be playing in the Essex Olympian League unless they are accepted in at the Leagues AGM.

Basildon wont be running a reserve side for the 2010/11 season.

Fair enough, I agree nothing is set in stone yet and that next season's EOFL constitution is still to be decided. For now let's just say it is a desire that is likely to be a reality.

Used to be a good league for up and coming youngsters, especially playing on semi-pro surfaces and stadiums week in, week out (talking from experience).

Olympian League is a very good standard of football however and some of the pitches are @ better quality than most ESL, or even Ryman surfaces!

At last night's AGM, Bowers & Pitsea Reserves were confirmed as new entrants to next season's Essex Olympian Football League, along with, amongst others, Thurrock Reserves and Waltham Abbey Reserves.
