Mick Marsden Resigns As HFC Manager.

Mick Marsden has today tendered his resignation to the Directors of HFCL.

The Directors have reluctantly accepted that resignation.

It has become apparent recently that Mick and the Board were thinking along opposite lines as to the way forward for the club. As a reasult of those differences, Mick felt that he had no choice but to tender his resignation.

The club wish to thank Mick for all the hard work and commitment to the club over the last six years and hope that he will continue to be involved in some capacity at the club in future times.

George Borg will take temporary charge of the team until such time as the Board have assessed the situation further.

A press release will be issued later today.

That's a shame as Mick had done some great work at hornchurch and put the club in an enviable position. I agree the timing does not help. Was this on the cards i wonder or just a case of GB being in the right place at the right time. I am sure he will be secured on a full time basis, with his knowledge and experience.

Good luck to Mick in whatever venture he chooses next

If he did resign and wasn't pushed then fair enough but if he was forced out, the board of directors and clubs owner should be ashamed of such treatment of the best serving Manager [and individual] this club has ever had.

From div 3 to Premier in 2 years, isn't that good enough for a chance at the Premier football!!

Hope the side does well this year, it'll show that Micks signings were spot on.

All the best Gaffa and enjoy your break, no-one deserves it more after your efforts at the club, even before the millions came.

This is such a terrible shame. He really was Mr Hornchurch. I think he was a good ambassador for the club. Never heard him shout foul or abusive language from the touchline unlike some of the managers last season. However, I doubt that this was planned. If it was, I believe that he would have departed sooner. But who knows in Football these days?

Ahh, so you obviously know everything that's been going on behind closed doors.

As much as I don't like the fact he's leaving, I certainly am not going to preach as though I know what's been happening.

Good luck to Mick - after everything he has done he deserves all the thanks we can give him.

But now let's move forward - those who look to the past will only suffer. For the moment at least Georgie Borgie is the leader of the gang and will get my full support. Be a true fan hfc1 and let's get behind the team.

I do hope this isn't a major issue for you with George on the bench. Nice bloke IMHO, with a few good stories up his sleeve, but he does tend to have more than a few choice words to say during a match!

In reply in pabird, I realise that swearing on the touchline is part of the game, but what I meant was that Mick conducted himself a lot better than some of the managers I saw last season. Swearings fine but sometimes last season it seemed that some of the opposing managers went a little over the top in everything they said.

Its not like I care about the swearing at all. Merely making a point that Mick Marsden would refrained from doing so more often than not.

To address hfc1 as Little Miss said we don't know the ins and out's of all this, everything in football isn't black and white i will reserve judgment till i know the facts!

HFC 1 i presume you won't be having anything to do with the club next season as you seem to want a club that you pretend to care about to fail. You don't quit on a club because you favorite player is sold or because a manager has left.

George Borg should not be treated as a villan he is a coach with a great pedigree and from speaking to him a great bloke. This isn't a playground where you can call George names. Say it to his face if you have the testicular fornitude to do so. I for one will be chearing them on. Lets give George the chance to prove himself but i for one will certainlly remember the safe hands that the club was in with Mick at the Helm.

He didnt sound scottish when i was talkin to him, great bloke and very friendly he seemed, good luck to mick, but i'm sure all the officials at the club will do well in appointing a new manager.

Quite simply the resignation of Mick Marsden is a huge blow for the club on the eve of a new season which us supporters were looking forward to.

Never has the cliche that football is a funny old game looked more apt.Marsdens record speaks for itself.george Borg has a hard act to follow and we must all hope that he has a good pair of retrospective spectacles.

If he does then he will see through them that the arrival of Chris Moore and Vinnie John were

the defining moment when the season got back on track. The same goes for Jamie but of course he is a certain starter anyway.

May I also make a direct appeal to the owner of the club.I have a feeling I am speaking for the overwhelming majority of supporters.

Please, please do everything in your power to keep Kevin Marsden at the club.He is the best player,he is the lifeblood of the defence and when he was missing last season we were like a ship without a captain.

Losing Mick is a blow, losing Kevin would be

a disaster.
