Yeah, that all came out yesterday. Witham stuck in the ESL as the two teams that came bottom of R1N got a reprieve,

With regards to Grays Athletic FC, there's many a slip twixt cup and lip and I suspect there'll be more twists and turns yet.

Well thats wrong for a start Dazza ! East Thurrock have ryman prem grading . Grays were just placed into step 5 (ESL) as thats where the highest available space was for them

I feel sorry for Witham but these things do happen , Witham must have known in their hearts that not winning the ESL last year meant that their promotion chances were slim at best

That's the F.A for you,if you finish bottom of your league, then you should be relegated SIMPLE,disregarding how nice the facilities and ground are.

Shame for Witham, those as Trenks says, they were probably not surprised.

Non League Today suggests a possible groundshare for Grays at Basildon United. Click here

Nice to see such investigative journalism on Non League Today's part.

So much so that the following e-mail was sent .....

"Good mornng,

It has come to my attention that your website has lifted word-for-word an article regarding Grays Athletic;

http://www.nonleaguedaily.com/news/index.php?&newsmode=FULL&nid=66915

from the sports section of the Gateway FM website which was published the day before.

http://gatewayfm.com/sport/

Could you please at least take the trouble to credit Gateway FM with the story, before cutting and pasting to your website, if you can't be bothered to ask us to reproduce it.

Thank you"

At the bottom of the Non League Today article, there is a link to the Gateway FM site, or was this added later following the sent email?

The link was hastily added to their page soon after they received the e-mail!

Oddly enough, we wanted to credit the FA spokeman for the information he gave us, too, but for some strange reason he asked us not to! I guess he was just as shy when talking to the Enquirer too!

Justin , Harlow actually got 24 points , they were just deducted 9 for going into a CVA !

Everyone knows the rules before the start of the season , there are 12 promotion places for step 5 teams , and 14 step 5 leagues , that means even if all 14 league winners wanted to go up they couldnt , it would be the top 12 . 10 league winners went up this year , 4 runners up fought it for 2 spots , unfortunately for witham 2 teams had better points per games records .

Stansted v Witham again next year will be tasty after all the banter on here last season

We actually got 25 as we were deducted 10 for the CVA. Not a lot of difference though!

Looking forward to it already.

Just hope their fans have stopped crying, so they can again sing about our ground.

Can't understand what all the bleating is about they came 2ND, would have understood it if they had deserved to go up by actually wiining the league :coffee (2):

I know the FA have some f**ked up regulations when it comes to promotion/relegation and ground grading but at the same time as people are saying Witham came 2nd and shouldn't be promoted, which I agree with, surely all teams at step 5 should have a ground fit for step 4 in case they get promoted. Stansted have had a great season but don't go up. Seems pointless to me. Surely thats the whole point, to progress. Thats not a dig at Stansted but surely you should have everything in place at the start of the season for promotion. At the same time it's wrong that teams keep getting a reprieve at step 4.

I have always been dismayed as to why clubs don't want to go up or at least seem not to want to go up.

Ok,work needs to be done on some grounds to get them fit for step 4 and above but most in the esl could do that with no problem,it seems some are just happy to plod along in the ESL

I must admit it is strange that some teams dont want to go up. I dont know why any player would want to join a side who have absolutely no ambition to move up the ladder. Sudbury must have won the Ridgeons league 4 or 5 years on the spin before finally deciding to go up.
