The Ryman League will welcome five new clubs - two old friends and three complete newcomers - for the 2010/11 season, including three from Suffolk, acccording to the provisional allocations released by the FA on Monday.

Two of the Suffolk clubs, Bury Town and AFC Sudbury, played in Division One Midlands of the Zamaretto League last season. Bury, who won that division with 102 points, are promoted to the Ryman Premier Division while Sudbury join Division One North, returning to the division where they played from 2006-08, as did Bury.

The third Suffolk club, Needham Market, will also compete in Division One North in their first season of Step 4 football, having won the Ridgeons League title.

Two other county league champions, Whitehawk (Sussex) and Faversham Town (Kent) are promoted to Division One South. They, too, will be experiencing Step 4 football for the first time.

VCD Athletic are relegated to the Kent League after failing to achieve the necessary ground grading. They are treated as having finished twenty-second in Division One North, thus giving a relegation reprieve to the actual bottom club, Harlow Town.

As expected, the teams who finished twenty-first in the Division One sections, Leyton and Walton Casuals, escape relegation because clubs at higher levels have folded or chosen to drop down. That also means that Margate stay up, despite finishing nineteenth in the Premier Division.

Ashford Town (Middx), who finished one place below them, are relegated but will switch to the Zamaretto League's Division One Central.

Deaders' link seems to be on the blink.... Ths is what it says.

"Grays missing from top league listings as FA confirm Step 5 placement

THE FA have confirmed that Grays Athletic will play in the Essex Senior League next season.

The future of Grays and where they will play remains uncertain after the FA Leagues committee announced its provisional league structures for next season.

The Blues had hoped to be included in the Ryman League structure, preferably in the Premier Division, but they were not included in that list and the FA have now confirmed with the Enquirer that they have placed Grays in the Essex Senior League.

"I can confirm that Grays have been placed in Step Five and that means they will be placed in the Essex Senior League," said an FA spokesman.

That is likley to mean that Grays will aim for a groundshare with Tilbury, itself a club wracked in off-field turmoil at the moment, rather than the expected move to East Thurrock, which was their likley destination if they had achieved the higher placement as Rocks' Rookery Hill ground does have Ryman Premier ground-grading.

The FA have stressed that there are a number of outstanding issues still to be resolved and the listings may be subject to subsequent change.

Two teams celebrating a repieve are Harlow and Leyton, who remain in the Ryman North despite finishing in the relegation positions.

They are there because VCD Athletic have been demoted back to step five after failing to complete their ground improvements on time, while Stansted, who won the Essex Senior League, done have a ground of the required standard.

It had been thought that Witham Town, who finished second, would return to the Ryman North, but they appear to have missed out in the reshuffle.

A spokesperson for Essex FA was not able to confirm exactly why Witham had not gone up, nor to confirm that Grays Athletic will be joinging the league. "We haven't been informed by the FA of that yet," he said."
