I'm somewhat surprised nobody has touched on the Anagram Feeders Trophy Final this afternoon between Padbury United and The 61 FC at the County Ground in Letchworth, Padbury won 3-2 in an excellent advertisement for SSML football

I was there. It was hot. Very hot. The best team won. The crowd was very noisy, particularly the Padbury contingent. The hot weather brought out the best in ladies fashion, indeed the best in ladies. Padbury wore special shirts bearing the legend "Anagram Trophy Final 2010". I have never seen so many yellow cards brandished in a cup final. There were no penalties however, and no-one was sent off. I was able to partake of liquid refreshment and a selection of sandwiches etc from the post match finger buffet, kindly suppied by the Competition organisers. Great day out.

Oops!, sorry, I forgot to include a snide dig at Aston Clinton in my post above. Sorry Aston Clinton, wasn't ignoring you! Thanks for bringing us back to Rhodesworld again Rhodes. Bet if Aston Clinton had been in the final, one of the other two teams wouldn't have been.

Horace - Aston Clinton will be the first to admit that their defeat at Frenford was a huge body blow to them however it wasn't altogether a surprise if I recall following Paul Tompkins departure shortly before the tie

Give it a rest Rhodes! Frenford went on to beat one of the Herts County League's top sides and reigning champions Met Police Bushey, so they weren't mugs. Please., please stop adding a little dig to everything you post.

On second thoughts, if you did stop , there'd be no other posts, would there?

It was a disapointing match from our point of view, we started slowly and could already have conceded before going behind in just the second minute from to a sloppy goal (defensively from our point of view). Padbury went 2 up in the 24th minute with a good move and well taken finish and it looked like damage limitation at this point as Padbury were having most of the ball and looked dangerous going forward.

We could have pulled a goal back before half time but it was ruled out for offside, which looked harsh from my viewpoint and Matt Terry shot over with virtually the last kick of the half so we went in at the break 0-2 down.

20 minutes into the second half and we got a goal back, the Padbury keeper miskicked the ball which looked at one point that it might go into his own net, but instead went wide but Arron Lewis picked up the ball and his cross/shot hit a Padbury defender and spun into the net. It would have been good to have kicked on from here and really go for it, but the conditions were so hot that it was hard to really put a lot of energy into closing down, getting forward etc. Padbury then looked to have killed the match off with a very well taken goal when the ball was played to James Cain who turned and shot over the head of our keeper, though he shouldn't really have been beaten from there and he blamed himself after the whistle for letting it in, still it was a cracking finish.

With the game going into extra time a good through ball was picked up by Darius Piechota who beat a covering defender before rolling the ball past the advancing keeper for 3-2, unfortunately we didn't have any real chance for an equaliser.
