No groundshare???????

Recommended Posts

I have heard some news that they Ryman league as of the start of 2011-2012 season are to stop two way groundshares between football clubs.

Has anyone else heard this and do they have any more details.Apparantly this is definatly going to happen and could have implications for many ryman clubs, including romford & grays (if they are accepted to ryman)

There is a big bit about this in this week's NLP concerning Whytleaf and some lower league team that was refused permission to ground share with Whytleaf. The reason behind this seems to be to stop clubs from lower leagues ground share with teams from a higher league to give them an edge when it comes to promotion.

i.e. Stanstead won the ESL but cant get promotion becaue part of their pitch is used by the cricket club next door till the cricket season ends in September and Burnham Ramblers got promoted instead. If Stanstead ground shared with say Harlow fc then they would proberly have gone up. They would have done well if they sold their old ground first. Every sports faciility you see today is worth millions of pounds to builders. Look at the battle taking place at Tilbury fc.

So stop all ground sharing in the worse recession since 1930 would be totally irresponsible and the number of clubs going out of business would devistate leagues. We ground share with an Athletics club, Wigan in the premiership ground share with a Rugby League side as do Hull fc. Watford ground share with a Rugby Union side.

Where do you stop?
