East Thurrock 3-1 Billericay

Recommended Posts

Bit of a squad game for us this one with only 4 of the team that started against Orient starting against today. Poor defending gave away 3 soft goals, without Edinburgh and Penn we looked short of an organiser at the back. Up front we continued to create chances, twice having shots pushed onto the woodwork before Savidge (yes really!) opened the scoring with a sweetly struck effort. Thurrock then scored their 3 goals - all sloppy from our point of view - to get the win

Juho Rantala and Dean Morris both got chances to show what they can do, whilst a few of the lads got much needed 90 minutes under their belts. With Bauckham still to make his first appearance we look a striker light but that's nothing new

wouldn't read too much into this result, I reckon only 3 players that started today will start at Aylesbury. Still a bit disappointed with the performance though. Good to see some things don't change. Mark Barry was asked to leave the pitch and then tried to get back on 10 minutes later, Colin Wall never got near the ball and Blaney was straight on the beer and fags after the game. Saying that, Gary Waters went 90 minutes with-out picking up an injury!

i dont think this defeat will do us any harm. it was our last chance to try out the possibles before 2 games against league oppo. i thought their keeper had a blinder and we could have been 4 up after half an hour with the game burried if not for him.

as has been said reckon only 4 or 5 at most who started today will start against aylesbury and sadly there were a few out there today who didnt look upto it in my opinion.

it was a physical game but only the sort of the stuff that will be encountered every week in the league and i thought the ref was a bit fussy. Hopefully the last half hour was our only experiment with 3 at the back this season!!

A nice afternoon in the sun with a bit of footie thrown in. It would've been nice to keep the winning run up but hey, in the big picture, much better to have a defeat now, put right what doesn't work at this stage.

I thought we were the better side in the first half and only started to lose our way a bit in the second. Okay, two mistakes in the first cost us two goals but we were pushing the ball about a bit and mixing it in midfield...we certainly didn't look like a side that should've been 2-1 down. The second half was different...we just looked a bit jaded. Maybe the heat (Jeff King excuses coming out now - lol) or maybe the pre season programme is too intense (gonna be 4 games in 7 on Monday...).

One thing I have noticed about our style of play so far, we'e playing along the ground and pushing the passess about. Very few long balls from the back. Looks good, I can remember the good old days when THAT was our style of play. Lets hope it pays divi's!!!
