Definately relegated then

A bit upset tonight.

 

After last nights results-it seems the reserves are definately relegated-disappointing.

 

(and i am increasingly worried by Cambridge's app to join the Ryman which would seem to be at the expense of any possible reprieve for Margate -certainly not counting any chickens here-and hope my real concerns are unfounded)

Of course i worry that the reserves are relegated,and certainly not taking the first teams survival in the ryman for granted-particularly now that aswell as cambridge;Bury town who are rightfully entitled to promotion have also apparently applied to go to the ryman and not zamerretto premier !!

Applying for and getting are two very different things Michael, why I say not to worry. Plus if it does happen teams are rejigged around.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but surely these points are irrelevent in the Promotion/Relegation issue.

 

Adjusting which teams partake where in the football pyramid is a completely different issue to Promotion/Relegation.

 

Every season, regardless of their position in the League, teams will get moved from Isthmian to Southern League if the boundaries of those leagues are forced to change due to a surplus or deficit of places in said Leagues. These geographic changes have nothing to do with Promotion/Relegation. If Bury or Cambridge C get allocated to the Isthmian then someone like Wealdstone on the North-West of the M25 will be moved to the Southern League

 

Promotion/Relegation is an issue dealt with across the country - in an ideal world it's four down in each League across the whole of Step 3 (Northern Premier League / Southern League Premier / Isthmian League Premier). If, as almost always seems to be the case, teams fold or resign from that Step - the number of relegated teams from that Step is reduced from 12 (4 a League) to accommodate that shortfall. This is what we're being told is going to happen, just like last season.

 

As far as Bury being promoted is concerned - Promotion is a separate issue to Relegation - 12 teams will get promoted from Step 4 to Step 3 - if due to boundary changes 5 teams move into the Isthmian Premier then to balance the numbers in the Leagues they again look to geographic changes to accomodate this & not League position.
