Dan's gone to Iceland

When does the icelandic season end ?

I may be wrong-but i had a feeling it was a 'summer' league-and thus if IOC wanted him-would he be available to MFC circa October ?although i suspect IOC will not hold any door widely open;and that it is goodbye to dan Stubbs.

all the best .

Unless he is travelling with him; i hope Ronks continues to post and 'follow' the 'Gate

I guess the problem is that by end sept, the season is unbelievably virtually a quarter over-so IOC needs to get his men in at start of season-would be a useful addition though if DS was available from October-i'm sure he'll be looking for a club somewhere about then

Shame to see him leave - one of the few I would have kept in all honesty. Even if he didn't have his best game, you knew you were always guaranteed 100% effort, even when he was played out of position. Who can forget the superb team goal scored at home to Hendon which he rounded off? Fantastic stuff; obviously, the less said about the final result, the better. All the best Dan.

Yea good luck Dan. As for him leaving us Mike, I hope it is only a temporary thing for about a month and that he will come back to play for us again next season. Good news is that our experienced players already said they are staying according to Ian in todays local IE Turner, Lacey, Saunders and Pinnock.

As I have been sailing around the Lake today (I know a bit of excercise) in a wind lul moment I put my brain into gear and think I may be correct in saying that Dan is the 2nd Margate player to have played in Iceland (that reminds me I must go for an Ice-cream after this I think a cherry with lemon). The other player was Wayne Wilson who played in the Icelandic 1st Division a few years ago (nice little task for Jeff or someone else to research this).

From all the articles-and here is another:

http://www.yourthanet.co.uk/kent-news/Gate-midfielder-signs-for-Icelandic-side-newsinkent35641.aspx?news=sport

it does seem that there is every chance that DS will be back at MFC in mid/late september; so maybe its not a complete good bye.

Maybe he will also come back even better .

Of course mid/late september means a quarter of the season missed-plus no doubt our traditional early exit from the FA Cup- miaow.

Didn't realise Stubbsy was only 20 (assuming yourthanet is correct). Makes his superb performances for us out of position look all the more impressive - definitely one to keep hold of. IOC also hinted that Robinson will still be here at the start of next season - bit surprised by that as shouldn't think that, after having a run in the first team, he would be content with being on the bench, which is surely inevitable if we do see the return of Stubbs.

Im not sure 'out of postion' is how IOC sees it Mike. He said something like weve got good cover for Dan in Curtis Robinson, which can only mean IOC sees it as losing a left back/wing back rather than a midfielder. Also heard yesterday that some players have been asked to take pay cuts due to a budget cut ! Anyone else heard this ?
