the balance of power about to shift

Recommended Posts

could it be possible that concord rangers are about to become the islands top team ?,believe you me they have come along way they use to play on canvey seafront with a shed to change in and no washing facilities i was 11 when i first played for them and had 17 great seasons down there before escaping the island, have always looked out for the results and there progress has been amazing ,one person still there from the humble beginings circa about 1969 is albert lant who is possibly the president of the club, looking forward to meeting them again next season

they have done well although i think the main club on the island is canvey.

I think concord will average around 200 next season but this may be with the help of a few canvey fans who don't travel to away games.

Good luck to them anyhow.

I think with the team they have at the moment they will stay up quite easily,i think it will be one of those places that away teams maybe don't like playing at which could work for them.

Can't see them overtaking canvey as the first team on the island as canvey does appear to be well run, have a bigger ground and gains more support but who knows

good wind up nearer the time of that fixture anyway, think some teams might come undone with the sewer smell, depending which way the wind is blowing

I agree with you Buzzardboy.

Both clubs are run very differently with ours being very much based around the core fan base and budgeting on our income rather then having one person puting money in. We especially know where that ends after experiencing it first hand a few years back... We are a community focussed club now and to be honest we are realistic in knowing that this is the right level for us currently.

Im sure the derby games will be decent against CR but i still put our derby games against the ricay, the urchins and grays ath as ones that our fans will look out for because of the banter between 2 decently supported teams.

Looks like with all the potential changes to the league next season things could be even tougher the 09/10 season

Shedboy

Not quite as you put it old chap !

We have many sponsers both companys and individuals at our club and do not rely on any soul person as you have said !

Our bank balance is looking the best it has for years so we must be budgeting ok too !

Anyways ill leave you to worry about your own club but try not to listen to rumours in the future .

last season at canvey was a real grind, most games tedious , dont know the finances of canvey just been a fan for 15 years but on these forums its been said we have no money, whilst what i know of concord they do, we seem to be a club on the decline whilst they seem to be on the up, we have a much bigger fan base (for now) but kids follow success and they are both on canvey , as i said on a previous post on the canvey forum we need to step up a gear to compete or regretably the balance of power will shift.(are aveley bigger than concord) and they stuffed us 3 times last season.

I would far from say we are a club in decline, i think its more about we have found our level with the resouces we currently have.. Money is tight and im sure 99% of non league clubs are in the same position especially with the current economic climate we are going through. We have a good sound fan base for this league which a number of clubs in our area would love to have.

CIFC fans have been spoilt over the years and many faces that did attend during our successful Ryman North campaign only a couple of years ago seem to have now decided not to attend because we are not winning most games everyweek and scoring lots of goals. To be perfectly honest the people of the Island are very fickle bunch, you only have to look at our crowds in the King days, sucess everyweek watching some of the best non league players around, still when we hit the conference and we wern't winning week in week out the crowds just fell away..

Next year will be interesting bit im confident in what our fans and board are trying to acheive at CIFC.

Anyone else looking forward to playing our friends from Grays! :)
