Indeed, we were beaten by a better team, our lads looked knackered after the mammoth efforts of the last 2 games.

Never really threatened in the first half and we had the wind knocked out of us early on conceding an early goal. Chesham defended very well, and went 2-0 up before half time. As we pushed in the second half they got us with 2 more goals.

Good luck to them in the Premier Division, hopefully we will be able to push for the top next season. We should all be proud of the efforts the jobs the lads, management and fans have put in this season, even though we fell at the last. An excellent season overall and we need to take that into next year, hold onto a decent number of players and see where we end up!

Well done to everyone connected with the club.

Liking the new kit - Chris S I need to pay you for that at the presentation evening, forgot about it in all the excitement and nerves today.

One of those games which have poped up now and again this season where we never turned up and the outcome was obvious to all to see.

Chesham did the business and caught us on the breaks and made us pay, defensively we were poor and the changes of Yads and Harper were correct.

On a more positive side it was good to see yet again that the Slough traveling support out numbered the home fans!

Overall this season has been far more productive and rewarding than most expected and to be in the playoffs, let alone make it to the finals was outstanding.

I think this now leaves us in a very strong position for next season and full credit goes to the players, Steve Batemen, the coaching staff, all the support team who put the games on and especially Steve Easterbrook for a thoughly enjoyable season.

Up the rebels!

P.S. Who was the drunken pratt in the green army hat who went on the pitch at the end of the game? - the one game a season idiots always know how to make fools of themselves!

After such a successful season, such a disappointing finish. 1-0 down after 2 minutes through a total failure in defence, it just got worse from then on. We were lucky to get nil.

No-one had a good game and quite a number of the team had stinkers. Chesham are fast and capitalised on our lack of speed. No midfield to speak of and the forwards were feeding off scraps.

Gate of 1115. Good luck to Chesham, I think they have a fair chance of holding their own at the higher level. As for us, we've come a long way in a short time, but as this game proved, we're not quite ready for promotion. Perhaps next year, after an adjustment in personnel, especially in midfield..

Beaten by the better team, Slough didn't show up especially in the midfield. Will make the Hitchin fans even more annoyed because of the result. Says a lot that Chesham beat Slough in all 4 games this season.

It's been a better than expected season for myself, my personal prediction at the start of the season was that Slough wouldn't get promoted but would make a go of it next season. After getting into the play offs and losing in the fashion they did is disappointing though.

Target now is to keep the side together for next season, strengthen where needed and go for it. This side is capable of promotion, it just needs a few tweaks.

Right result and unfortunately we were struggling from the moment we conceded after 90 seconds.

Can't fault the players. Going into last Saturday we weren't even in the playoffs so to make the final is fantastic. Massive progress from the last few seasons so congratulations to all the guys.

Have a strange feeling tonight. Gutted that we did not give a good account of ourselves today and play to our potential but also quite proud of what we've done this season with almost a whole new team having in previous seasons done nothing but fight relegation battles. If i'm honest I think maybe we were not quite ready for promotion this season with all the changes at the club. Next season we will want it will be ready for it and we can win the title.

Chesham were by far the best side today and 4-0 did not flatter them, good luck to them next season. There 4-5-1 formation crowding out our midfield worked for them. I think the efforts of last Saturday and Tuesday may have taken it's toll today. What a good season we've had though, one of my favourite I can remember since i've been supporting Slough.

If you look at the season as a whole against the lesser sides in the league we've dominated posession for most of the games and gone onto win them. Against the better sides in the league like Bury and Hitchin who play good football we've lost but not by much.

It's the games like today against Chesham and Burnham where we've really struggled this season and they have let us down. Teams like this crowd you out, pack the midfield and don't give you time on the ball. This is the main, and probably only area where we have stuggled this season as we've lost to Chesham 4 times, and Burnham (once with a draw albeit with Burnham having ten men) pretty convincingly. If we can improve on this and get some players in who do that in the midfield and other area for us, I see no reason to fear anyone nomatter if were in the Midlands again, or return to the South & West. I would imagine were on the border of being in either!

Just one shame, Steve went back and got so many ex Hemel players for us, well he could have brought Steve Wales with him as well :-) The guy has been excellent for them all season and again was a thorn in our side today, probably one of the outstanding players in the division.

Great to see so many old faces today, shame they only come out of the woodwork for the big occasions. Couple of prize planks on show, like the guy who went on the pitch that i've never seen before but hope the ones who have turned-up for the 'glory games' will be there next season.

For next season we don't need wholesales changes as we've had in past pre-seasons. Keep 80% of that squad and add 5-6 quality players and we will be there or thereabouts.

Well done Rebels, good enjoyable season! (Well apart from Barton & Biggleswade away!)

Unlucky today lads, Chesham are our bogey team and had beaten us twice this year, to be brutally honest I am glad they went up as we don't have to face them again next season. I shall miss the nice view from their ground though.

You have lots to be happy about and its time now to enjoy the summer and get ready for next seasons assault.

See you then. :)

Echo most of the above. Seems strange to feel empty after the season we have just had. Just to be the right end of the table is a strange surprise! I know some of us who live a bit further away do not go that often, but so many glory boys there today. Where was that dickhead who was on the pitch embracing Bateman when we were at Fleet for example, or at North Leigh, or anywhere to be fair?

I wish I could do a swap with you boys, your forum is deadly quiet, and we aren't a vocal crowd, I'd swap a few hundred of our repeated daily forum visits for a bit more voice.

You've just been in a play off final and we currently have 27 users on out forum and you have 2, even Chesham only have 8. Loud we may not be but numerous we are.

Well now the dust has settled and the head now rules perhaps a few truths, no we were not ready for promotion despite the dream, reality came back today and thats not to knock our season which despite ups and downs was more than we could expect. Yes this game was one to many and after Tuesday we didnt turn up today, but Chesham in truth were not very good either(perhaps they didn't need to be today) despite the 4-0, yes it went their way and good luck to them but if the Hitchin manager was there today I bet he can't believe what he saw. 2 not very good sides who would both need a major overhaul to survive in the premier Chesham probably had Steve Wales who will be good enough for the premier but the rest will be lucky if they are with him next season. Slough lets be honest would have needed a big overhaul as well. The Slough side looked out of salts today poor Mo in particular was found wanting in a big game that came to early for him, but his time will come, Sweeney picked today to have his only poor game of a long season and really we never recovered from the first goal. Were do we go from here, well summer has arrived so time to regroup and look forward to next season how many of the current squad or management team return next season remains to be seen, but a big thank you to all involved from Steve the Chairman down to everybody involved for a roller coaster of a ride and roll on next season when we can go thru all thats thrown at us again. WELL DONE REBELS

as has already been said todaywe did not have a good game ( understatement ) nobodies fault really, after our exertions over the last eight days or so it was to be expected really, still one of the best seasons we have had in many a year, and i am proud to say that i am a rebel, now i just hope that we do not have any of the palava and situations that we have had off field in previous seasons , yes there are going to be personell changes some with which some of us will not agree with, i hope that the new ground will take some massive steps towards being a reality and we can all come out next season and be a force to be reckoned with, so everybody have a great summer enjoy your holidays and get yourselves recharged for next seasons push. ps. hope the final away game is a bit closer next season.

Not sure I agree with you over the subs take one off but not both as once both were off we had no ariel threat and still pumped the ball in the box at 2-0 theres still hope at 3-0 forget it
