Next season's prices

I wasn't going to post on this matter but keep my disgruntlement to myself. However.

It seemed to me that just because we had kept prices at £7 for 4 seasons that was no reason to increase them. I could just about cope with the increase to £8 if we remained in div 1 as that seemed to be the going rate but was non-plussed when I learnt that if we went to the premier league the cost would increase to £9!

However I have just had a look at the Canvey sight and they have charged £9:50 last season.

What do other think. BTW I have purchased my season ticket for next season.

I actually E-mailed the club after the announcement to suggest rounding up the charge to £10 for a Ryman Premier game with a favourably discounted season ticket rate which would benefit the regular supporter. It would not benefit me cos of my uncertainty of whether I make a game or not (although I've only missed 5-6 home games this season), so as a 'casual) fan I'd pay a bit more. I thought Under 16's should be free as charging a £1 is neither here or their and is good PR.

Anyway it's gonna be £8 next season and £5 I think for OAP's and Students, after todays result. With the management we have in place and the foundations set for next season I see us doing better. So £8 is a fairly decent price to pay for a Saturday afternoon entertainment, socialising and camaraderie (i think thats how it is spelt).

Additionally and I dont know about anyone else, but my everyday costs have gone up in my work and domestically, our club is no different, how they've managed a Play Off Final class a team on the same income of four years is a credit to the prudentcy of those running the club, but they are not magicians and a small increase is inevitable even in times of a recession.

£7 to £8 is a big increase from one season to the next...I suppose if you keep it at £8 for 4 years as we did with the increase to £7,it proves simpler than adding a 25p increase each season..So as long as it stays at the new price for 4 years i'll be happy (And no more than £9 till 2013/14 season IF we are in the Ryman Premier)

£7.00 to £8.00 is a big increase rather than seems to be one. Although things are more expensive during these 'credit crunch' times, I am not sure whether anybody's salary has gone up by nearly 15%.

Mind you, it is in line with most clubs and we do have to look after our new tenants!

Surely a £7-£8 increase over 4 years (which is what it is) averages out closer to 3.5% p/a? If we'd gone from £6 in 2008/09 to £7 in 2009/10 to £8 in 2010/11 then it would be fair to say that prices have increased by 15%.

As LS mentioned, it's probably not practical to raise the prices by 25p per season over those 4 years to average it out (can you imagine the loose change we'd have to keep at the turnstiles), so what's happening here seems fair to me (and in-line with most/many of our Div1 North rivals).

If water, Gas, electric, fuel, car tax, insurance tax can go up regularly at annual double digit figures and in some cases by 40%, then the calculated 3.5% is very reasonable for an organisation to remain competitive. However, I would expect another small increase of a £1 should we be promoted.

Then again if we purchased a season ticket the the average price of a home entrance would decrease by a similar percentage. I do appreciate a season ticket is a larger one off outlay.

I dont think for a moment that raising the entrance fee by £1 is going to prevent fans from attending, it will be more to do with the performances and league positioning that would stop fans from turning up.
