Anyone fancy a walk on Saturday?

Both Tom and Becca were peeved at not being allowed to do the Romulus walk and have had the stupid idea of walking to Chesham

From SYCOB its only 8.5 miles but on a dodgy road, from Wexham Park its just short of 14 miles but on safer roads.

Given that Chesham is now the last away game (and as someone pointed out last night, we needn't have bothered with the Romulus walk - thanks for that), does anyone fancy it? Polite answers only please.

I have looked up the walking route on Google Maps, the 13.8mile route seems to be a good one, pretty direct, and I can say that most of the sections that I know (Ggerrards Cross, Chalfont St. Peter) are quite safe to walk on, but I do not know if the same is true beyond that into Amersham or Chesham.

Come on there's got to be some other (crazy) Rebels who would want to walk it??

If you want to share the route, Can give you some local knowledge on the Amersham / Chesham end of it

I have the route from Multi Maps which got us from WP to Rom last week

Which is basically straight up from WP to A40 through GX then A413 and A416 all the way in.

Thjis is a much safer route than we took when we walked to Berko. ie A355 as we were walking in the hatched area in the middle of the road coz it was safer than at the edge.

I would strongly recommend staying on roads and not going cross country.

Likely walking time is 4hr 20 mins therefore suggest 9 - 9.30 start so its not a rush

Hi guys, congratulations on the Hitchin result. It should be a cracker on Saturday.

We did a walk from Chesham to Burnham a couple of years ago and you can go from Beaconsfield to Chesham most of the way over fields to avoid the roads if you want. From the junction of Ledborough Lane and Amersham Road (A355) there is a footpath that takes you across the fields running parallel to the main road with a few twists and turns and road crossings that comes out in Old Amersham via a footbridge over the A404. Go through Old Amersham and just by Amersham Town FC (School Lane) there is a path leading up to Amersham on the Hill with a crossing point over the railway line. That then continues into Chesham Bois and there is a path there that leads through to the fields that back onto The Meadow with access at your destination via Fullers Close. You would need to look at the Ordnance Survey map or similar to check a few details but it's a nice walk if the weather's ok. But don't blame me if you take this route and get lost!

See you Saturday.
