this increased Reading and London Irish coverage is quite simply ridiculous. presumably both teams have paid the Slough Observer some silly money

i suppose someone related to Slough will have to contact them (i.e do the "journalists" job for them) for their to be much chance of major coverage

I am mr Angry too.. but I have sent them an e mail already last Sunday ..everyone needs to do the same !

From the local Slough paper I will expect nothing less that a page or two on the events leading up to and including Saturdays final!!

Sod the Hockey/Rugby/Reading etc this is more important to SLOUGH people.

the Slough Jets Ice Hockey team won their playoff championship so they obviously are very worthy of local paper acknowledgment and is also very popular

the womens Field Hockey team are in the national premier league

least these are Slough teams. almost no one in Slough gives a damn about Reading fc and a rugby union team that plays in Reading

I don't know but isn't the Ice Hockey team made up mainly of Americans etc?

As Wayne says, the league that the Jets play in (EPL) are only allowed four non-British trained players in the squad. There's almost certainly more local lads playing in the Jets team than the Rebels! Plus they've just won the playoff title so coverage is more than justified.

Get rid of the Reading coverage and there's more than enough space for Rebels and Jets.

Gave us quite a good write up today to be fair.

There is also a piece about Jamie Jarvis saying he is backing us to win at Chesham, he will be at the match with some of the boys hoping for a Slough win.

Well Jamie I am sure I will have enough party poppers to go round if you fancy joining us behind the goal, might even let Paul Brett have one!

Haha!!! Very kind of you Sue!! If i start singing can I have two?? :-)

Good luck with the Final tomorrow guys/girls, even though we are local rivals we (Burnham) all want you to win as most of us are Slough boys. I think that you will beat Chesham as you appear to have hit good form just at the right time.

All the best,

Bretty

Hi all...I received a reply from the Observer this morning .... what do you think ?

surley if they need information then the Slough Town WEB site is a good place to get this information and they only need to ask for permission to use some of the items...

and I am sure Gary House would allow them to use some pictures ..as long as he is credited with them ?

any other thoughts ???

Hi Chris,

Thank you for your email.

In the weeks prior to the Reading FC page being introduced the Southern League page was just one anyway so there has been nothing lost in terms of local coverage, merely value added for Reading supporters.

As I'm sure you are well aware most companies, especially local newspapers are going through hard times at the moment which means things have changed (and we have half the staff). So at the moment we do not have the manpower to produce another page of Slough, Windsor, Burnham and Beaconsfield sport so it is a case of Reading (which has already been produced) or nothing. No local clubs are losing space.

It is disappointing to hear that the Slough Observer is not being supported in this difficult time as the paper continued to give excellent support to STFC when they were going through many years of difficulties and financial troubles.

I booked up the photographer and passed the very worthy news story on to our newsdesk about walking to Sutton Coldfield so I can only apologise that it hasn't been in yet and hope that it will feature soon.

Regards

Patrick

PS Good luck for tomorrow, fingers crossed for a Slough victory and that you enjoy the day

Thanks for sharing that Chris.

For the photos, they have had my permisson all season to publish them with credits, and I have sent Patrick the odd email as a reminder over the season. Especially on the Romulus match

The same permission was also given to the Express for the whole season

Then there are no excuses then ? we could have a lot more pictures --to take the place of the READING FC page..

All the local news and radio receive copies of our match reports as posted on the site via email as soon as we post it. The email they receive also expresses the option for them to reproduce them if they so wish, all we ask is that they cite the Official Site as a source.

As an example, NL24 reproduce all our match reports and cite the website and reporter as standard. So its not difficult for them to do.
