Hitchin 1-2 Slough Town - Chesham here we come!

What an awesome night! Where do I start? Who cares, were in the play-off final...

A week ago after losing to Hitchin at home, with a tough game at Romulus on the Saturday nobody would have thought we'd be going there a week later against a team that lost two games at home with one draw all season in the league and come away with a thoroughly deserved victory.

From 1-11 we were oustanding tonight. First-half we were the best side by far I thought. Screamer from Adam Martin which I think Gary has got on Camera and a nice header from Elliot. One awesome save from Jacko mid-half and then Sean missing a sitter with the last effort of the half and I thought that could come back to bite us in the backside.

Hitchin in fairness dominated the 2nd half in terms of posession, and got so many crosses into our box, but they did not look too threatening and Jacko never made a save second-half until they scored a bit of a strange goal with 9 minutes left and everyone thought the worst. Those nine minutes seemed to go on for ages and then we get four minutes of stoppage time from somewhere (not sure where!) but we hold on, despite some nervous supporters faces with seconds to go after a penalty appeal was saved away after Jacko tangled with a Hitchin forward and then the resulting corner flashing across the six yard box.

Hitchin away in the league was really a low point for us this season as despite losing 3-2 we were awful and we certainally put it right tonight.

Should not really single anyone out but for me Edgey was immense in midfield tonight, and Yiads who has had a bit of a difficult time since he came into the team was outstanding and dealt with so many crosses.

Awesome support tonight as well. Singing all night and great celebraions at the end.

One to go though, Chesham will be very tough but were up for the battle - can't wait and a very proud Rebel whatever happens!!

SENSATIONAL SENSATIONAL STUFF!!!!!! What a dream these last few days have been. we have gone from not thinking we will make the playoffs to just potentially 90 minutes from promotion in the space of what 4 days!!! MADNESS!!!!!!!!!! gotta feel for Hitchin they were way better than us over the season and must be totally gutted. But what an effort by the Slough lads. also fair play to those supporters who graciously wished us luck for the final

as said all of them yet again gave it their all and although Hitchin missed a fair few sitters I think we were deserved winners on the night. Adam Martin scored perhaps the greatest goal i have ever seen live at a ground in my life. WHAT A BEAUTY!!!!!! in such an important match

great cross from Mo and brilliantly diverted in by Buchanan with his head. they debated it was offside but i have no clue if it was. why the hell their right back stood still a watched even if he thought it was offside who knows.

lets hope Mo isn't too injured to make Saturday

Jacko i was convinced had conceded a penalty at the death. ref gave corner though though from where i was it seemed very debatable. another superb save by him first half. damn that guy is not going to let us lose easily is he.

WE'RE ALL GOING TO CHESHAM WE'RE ALL GOING TO CHESHAM DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

COME ON YOU REBELS!!!!!!!!!!!

seems unlikely that both Burnham and Hitchin matches had the same attendance of 541. surely a mistake on the southern league website. surely more than 541 at Hitchin and surely by 541 Burnham would mean 300 max

Slough took well over 200 and Hitchin has an average of 334 ..this makes 534 ! but The hitchin supporters near me said this was this was far the biggest attendence this season ..must be dissapointed only to see 541 declared ....

Unbelievable! The first half was excellent, going two goals up in front of a massive Slough support that didn't stop singing. The second half was gut wrenching, nerve shredding hell. I couldn't hardly sing i felt so sick with nerves and i thought Sue was going to have a heart attack. Hitchin must be gutted, 100 points, beating us twice, but that's the play offs for you. I don't believe that attendance for a minute either, at least 600 in the ground.

Absolutely fantastic night!

What a great time to start winning against the top teams, a thoroughly professional performance from every player on that pitch, and a brilliant night of singing and cheering behind the goals for us - all the great STFC chants coming out for the full 90. Better try and recover from the sore throat before Saturday! Seeing the players celebrating at the end (especially Jacko and Deano) was amazing, you could tell they really wanted it. They did us proud last night. I'm looking forward to seeing the photos.

Do have to feel sorry for Hitchin, I had tipped them to win the league this season. I had a look on their forum and they were absolutely gutted, but some of them were willing to admit we were the better team. As for Jarvis...who cares! He got what he deserves.

One more big push from everyone on and off the pitch and we will be in dreamland, who would have thought that we would be here a few weeks ago, let alone a couple of seasons ago!

What a crazy season it's been, let's not throw away this opportunity now! COME ON YOU REBELS!

Haven’t posted here for a while but wanted to pop by and congratulate the boys on an absolutely magnificent effort last night. This time a week ago, I have to say I doubted we’d even make the play-offs and now we find ourselves in the final. If we can reproduce that sort of performance on Saturday we have a fantastic chance of getting promotion.

Adam Martin’s strike was up there with the best Slough goals I’ve ever seen in twenty odd years. The same would apply to Jacko’s save at the end of the first half. We defended like MEN as Hitchin battered us in a second half that seemed to last two hours. 1 to 11 were superb and a credit to the club, as were the travelling Rebel army.

Can’t help but feel for Hitchin after their performance over the season but last night just wasn’t their night. Chatted to a few of their fans after the game and they were very gracious in defeat, I wish them well for next season.

Great stuff, let’s hope for more of the same on Saturday.

What me the phantom bum pincher!! Of course I'm in, I expect Lynn will be interested as well.

Mind you I think we will have to protect Adam Martin from two certain ladies, cant repeat what they would like to do to him!

FANTASTIC RESULT

Everybody gave it their all, especially with the seige during the second half.

Heart attache conditions in the last minute of injury time when Jacko had that collision with the Hitchin player. Especially as the ref was running into the box with his right hand out and pointing towards the penalty spot, only to raise his left one to give a corner.

The dream starts up again on Saturday.

Gutted not to have been there, as was out for meal with friends. Waiting for the text updates was nerve wracking to say the least. Come ten to ten, the restauarant was somewhat bemused by a loud shout of YES!!!! coming from my table. Helping out this weekend at a world record attempt at 48 hours of football, but have told them will not be there sat afternoon. Doing an organisational shift from 11 fri night to 7 sat morning, few hours kip, then on to Chesham. BRING IT ON!

What an incredible performance. In the first half we were excellent going forward and created a number of chances limiting Hitchin to sporadic counter attacks. Second half they clearly had been inspired by the team talk and it was a backs to the wall job as we saw off wave after wave of attack. The late goal gave us all the jitters but the back four and Jacko were superb. I have to say I thought Seeby just grabbed the MOTM award but only just. Edgey was magnificent in the middle of the park as was Adam Martin. And what a goal that was. He made room for himslf and then stuck it in the corner. Amazing. I went absolutely potty at that point and still hadn't recovered by the time Elliot made it two.

Saturday is going to be huge. I personally think this is our biggest game in 12 years. It is going to be exceptionally tough and will take another monumental effort from the boys. We need to do our bit and carry on in the same vain as Saturday and last night.

Come on you Rebels!
