Folkestone

Indirectly Margate related topic; insofar as if we get a reprieve; i'd like to see Folkestone back in the premiership-and so wish them well in their play-off semi tonight.

Perhaps next Xmas, Margate v Folkestone will be the derby game-marginally more attractive than Maidstone?

To bounce back to premiership in one season would be a fantastic achievement by them imo.

I think it took dover 2/3 sesons to get out of ryman south.

Sitting by the Lake on a drizzly morning I feel I must correct you Michael.

Folkestone have spent 2 seasons in Div 1. I well remember that day when those raiders from Sittingbourne came to the Buzzlines and beat Invicta to send them down instead of themselves.

Those raiders then stole 2 of our better players by plying them with monies that they could not later afford to pay them. So they returned home the where they belong.

I would like to see Folkestone back up as I like Cheriton Road and they have a good set of fans. That would be a better Boxing Day than Longmead or wherever Maidstone end up next season.

I think thats a bit unfair Michael to compare a play-off semi-final attendance in the Ryman South (or any division) to that of attendances here when playing league games at the foot of the table for most of the season. I think we have had that amount or thereabouts for most of the season on a regular basis & taking all things into account I think the attendances here have been superb. The fans of Margate should be applauded for their efforts in getting to games i.m.o.

I would also imagine Folkestone would have been slightly disappointed with that attendance last night but I'm sure that figure will be trebled on Saturday (at least) for the final of the play off unless the Dover game takes folk away from the Folkestone final. Should be a lot of alien faces in & around Folkestone & Dover areas on Saturday with 2 play off finals.

Incidentally & okay Folkestones attendances have seen an improvement of 38% from the season before whereas we have seen a decline of 28% but thats what being at the top & being at the bottom does as we all know. Just to add Ramsgate are 42% below that of the season before. all according to this:

Whats interesting is that they got over 2000 for the free entry/honour the soldier Croydon championsihip decider game last week, but back to below 500 last night.

I should imagine bar takings on a crowd of 2000 made it worthwhile though

Well done Folkestone.

IF IF IF we are awarded a reprieve:

working out quite nicely-2 London trips to croydon and kingstoniam (again),plus Folkestone for you locals (boxing day i hope );and hopefully an opening day away fixture at Lowestoft for a nice weekend in Norfolk-just like old times (boston ?)

Congrats to Folkestone beating Godalming, congrats also to Concord Rangers (apparently another team in Canvey)for their playoff win. Commiserations to Kingstonian who lost the play-off final to Boreham Wood (oops thought it was Sutton ... 2 mins after looking .... memory of a goldfish).

Looking on the Mike Avery Map he thinks Bury Town will join the Ryman Premier from Southern League 1 (Midland Divison).

Now all the we have to wait for is the Isthmian League to confirm our repreive !!

Oh yes - shame Dover lost in the playoffs - couldn't happen to a nicer Chairman !

I think Kingstonian lost to Boreham Wood Peter.

I believe we reconvene with Sutton next year if we get a reprieve.

(and i've just realised that lowestoft is north suffolk-not Norfolk

Went over to watch the game good first half from both sides,Second half very scrappy godalming thought they had a penalty but to my amasement the lino said no and the decision was changed first time all season ive seen some decent officials good luck to folkestone but i also think neither side would trouble us whichever league we end up in
