Capital League This Week

Town host Harlow Town this Thursday evening, in the first of three home games with which to finish the season.

 

No doubt the team will be looking to continue their current run, which has seen them collect 9 points from their last three games and climb to 6th in the divisional table.

 

Kick off 19:45 at Goldsdown Road.

Steve Newing's promising (should that be threatening?) to put in an appearance before the end of the season.

Town's Capital League side made it 4 wins on the bounce, overcoming Harlow Town 3-2 last night. Mark Riley opened the scoring, and his personal tally for Town, skipper Tom Riley added a second before the visitors got themselves back in the game. Gavin Forbes volley sealed it in the second half, however.

The first of this week's final 2 Capital League games of the 2009-10 season kicks off at Goldsdown Road this evening at 19:45, with Central Division champions Aveley [and last season's Eastern Division winners] the visitors.

Town went down to a strong Aveley side last night by four goals to nil. Aveley featured a clutch of players with first team experience, as well as Paul Shave (fresh from warming the bench for Concord on Saturday) and Luke Dood (who was in goal for Cheshunt until recently).

With Tony Corrigan at the helm for the final time, Town finished off the season with a hard fought win over Hertford Town; George Cranfield's second half goal separating the sides.

 

Steve Newing's appearance with 20 minutes remaining got the biggest cheer of the night; he looks a bit of a prospect!

An enjoyable match but I don't think Stuart Blackburne has too much to worry about.
