...to score 4 goals with that much pressure away from home against a team that are certainly no mugs was a superb performance.

Absolutely, thought Slough over both games I have seen them against us this season are as good as Hitchin going forward.

Didn't realise until I had a look at the programme but that's the first time we had lost by more than one goal at home this season.

When the tannoy announcer (haha comedy genius- read C**t)... It made it even better asi felt throughly unwelcome as an away fan, the attitude of some of the (mainly official) people at the ground absolutely stank at times.

Don,

I'm sorry you felt you were not treated as you should have been.

If you care to elaborate on exactly how you feel we, as a club, let you down on the day then I invite you to write to us via email- you can click on the 'Contact Us' link on our official website- or you can email me personally at fingersthered@gmail.com and I will forward any questions/queries/complaints to the commitee.

As the tannoy announcer I did my best to keep Slough Town supporters up to date regards the score at Beaconsfield. Most people will have known what was going on, but if there was even one fan chewing his/her fingernails wondering how it was going that appreciated the updates then I consider it a job well done. The latest information and what it meant to the bigger picture was appreciated by your fans who were sat in the main stand.

Kind Regards, Andy Mitchell, Press Officer, Romulus FC. (AKA Comedy genius/C**t)

The fact you charged £9 entry fee despite a poster for the game inside the ground saying entry was £7 wasn't particular well taken by our supporters. In fact I think that was the highest priced entry to any game all season. Its more annoying when Sutton charged us £6 entry to Coles Lane on the opening day of the season.

What a day. You couldn't make it up. Walking along an extremely busy A road at 9.30am, I couldn't see this happening and was starting to question my own sanity. But it was well worth it. The save in the first three minutes followed by Elliot's goal really set the tone for a rollercoaster day that is one of my best as a Slough fan. Let's just hope we can take the momentum from this game onto Tuesday and beyond. Come on you Rebels!

First, absolute massive well done to the walkers.

second what a game, im sure they felt it was worth the walk.

Jacko made some absolutely amzing saves (from where i was standing) and his coolness to just stand there with his arm raised to let the freekick just hit the bar and go over was just scary.

Harper, Yads, Seeby and Sweeney kept us in the game.

Sincs played well especially as he seemed to be injured for the last 15 minutes.

Edge and A.Martin for the first time ever this season seemed like they were the right midfielders to be playing. They were always there when needed and controlled the game.

Mo Shariff was absolutely sublime IMO he tracked back from our corners and made great tackles as well as setting up a few great opportunities. (my MoM)

Sonner absolutely ran his socks off as always

Buchanan showing us that once again he has found form when one on one with the opposition keeper scoring crucial goals.

Thank god we didnt throw it all away at the last moment.

Wilko = once a rebel, always a rebel. (thank you beaconsfield, you have finally done one good thing for us)

Lets get behind Steve Bateman and the lads on Tuesday and get to the play off finals

Regarding the conflict of prices, I would suggest any complaints should be addressed as above.

May I ask what Slough charge for entry? All I found on the website was that you charged £8 for adults 2 years ago through your fans site?

With respect, Sutton charge what they charge, we charge what we charge. Because we happen to share the same ground doesn't mean we have to or will charge the same price.

I appreciate the fact you have put your point across in an articulate manner.

we charge £8 so its not exactly much of a big deal at the end of the day imo. saying that i think people got the impression the price was upped by yourselves purely as it was known we would bring quite a few fans. whether that is true i have no clue.

btw romulus i didn't think you was C**t

I think a lot of many supporters problems with Romulus come as a result of the home 2-2 draw. It was a scrappy tough tackling game where it all kicked-off in the tunnel between the players and there was also some problems between one Romulus player and Slough supporter - not nice stuff. Add that to the fact that I don't think your manager helped matters with some of his comments in the local press this week, seeming like 'Sutton would be thanking them come 5pm Saturday' and he did not want us to go up.

It probably seemed like a deliberate act after all that to announce that Sutton were leading at half-time. I was at SYCOB and had 2 people call to confirm I had not missed a goal. I'm sure it wasn't, but where did that information come from?

To be honest ... and the reason why it was questioned was the fact a poster quickly removed had completley different prices on it !

our prices are : 8-00 adults concessions and Students 4-00 - children 1-00

so you can see why we were disapointed with the addmissions :

one of our families that had 3 kids 3 adults( one was a student charge full price) : cost him 42-00 pounds yesterday where at Slough he would have been charged 23-00 pounds

19-00 pounds extra ! ... not a good advert for non league football .... in trying to generate more supporters ...

so you can see why some of our supporters were upset ! horrendous ... no wonder there were not many youngsters at the game yesterday ...

and your charges have been the highest in the league all season ???....

What an unbelievable day. I've calmed down a lot now but that has to be right up there with the Salisbury and Walsall games in terms of excitement (well, bits of the Walsall game anyway as it was actually quite dull overall). I know that I for one went absolutely mental when Elliot Buchanan scored that 90th minute goal, especially as it looked like he'd taken it too close to the keeper! I hadn't realised we were quite that close to the end of the game either.

It was just bizarre, but amazing, that every time we fell a goal behind on GD, we managed to find a goal within a few minutes. We were 1-0 up for so long that it seemed inevitable that Sutton Coldfield would eventually score and leave us needing goals. I actually forgot the current score of the game at times as it didn't matter, only that we bettered Sutton! But as others have said, Romulus are no mugs and don't go down easily, so it just goes to show how much the boys put into the game yesterday - everyone was up for it and it certainly made a change from disappointing final day games we've seen over the years. When Romulus scored, my heart sank for the first time, but I never felt we'd give up. From what I remember, I made it that fifth place changed hands 7 times yesterday - it was that close.

And that eight minutes after the final whistle had gone seemed more like half an hour!

If any Sutton Coldfield fans are reading this, I generally agree with the old cliche "the league table doesn't lie", but when it's this close, you can't help but feel some sympathy, especially when it's happened two years on the trot.

Finally I'd also like to say very well done to the three walkers - you've done the club proud yet again and I'll have some money for you on Tuesday hopefully - if not then I'll find some other way.

I think my question would be - have Romulus charged £9 admission for all home games this season? Or did someone just cotton on to the fact that we were bringing a large following with so much riding on the game, therefore making a couple of hundred easy extra quid? The fact there was a poster inside saying £7, suggested to most of us that we had been fleeced.

We charge £8 and £4, but that's not really the issue here. I think Hitchin are the other team to charge the most at £9.

I've opened a can of worms here smile.gif

As this thread could become never ending, if there are any issues supporters want addressing please follow the instructions given to Don, significant issues will be addressed at commitee level.

To answer what I can on my part, I announced the score as 0-0 at half time- my information was from a Slough Town official who had telephone updates at 5 minute intervals from the Beaconsfield secretary. I was stood next to this fella at the time I announced it.

As for the press comments by joint manager Keith Brown (I assume those are the ones eluded to?) I did the interview. Nowhere did he say Sutton would be thanking us come 5pm and nowhere did he say he didn't want Slough to get promoted, nor was he quoted as saying that.

He said he didn't care what happened to anyone else, only Romulus, nothing out of the ordinary about that I don't think?

He did say Sutton will be happy if we win, which of course they would be and that Sutton will be happy that Slough had to play Romulus as they know as well as anyone that Romulus don't roll over for anybody. He was right, we gave our all but weren't quite at it against a very good attacking side.

In that case then i completely apologise top my tannopy reference but a NUMBER of Slough fans near the tannoy told us it had been announced as 1-0 to SC at SYCOB, and led to a number of phonecalls and text messages to confirm it was really 0-0, if it was due to a mistake by those who heard or due to static etc, then i apologise completely for that statement and withdraw it wholeheartedly.

I also forgot to add that your Bar staff were lovely as was the guy who let us shortcut past the players entrance.

I agree that the 9£ seemed a bit weird is that your ticket price all season?

And the people collecting for raffle tickets who told a Slough fan that 'I dont care if you've walked 110 miles' when someone jokingly replied 'raffle tickets? ive already given all my money on the gate' was a rude. (I didnt hear the rest of the conversation but it stuck in my throat a bit in respect to those who did do the walk.)

Apology accepted mate, if I thought I had heard 1-0 (the mike isn't the best, something I hope to address over the summer) I would have thought it was a mickey take.

Just to break up the love in between Marcus and Mr Romulus ... ;)

WOW!!! I still haven't decided now whether yesterday made me feel better or worse to be honest. My cough definately seems to have got worse (just to thank Horsham Rebel for the picture of me visibly yelling when we were confirmed in the play-offs which my mum saw after I'd told her I wouldn't be shouting)!!! At last, my previous favourite Slough games (Stevenage 98/Walsall 04) may have been eclipsed. It got me thinking actually that all the matches that stick in the memory (for the right reasons) would all be cup games before yesterday. In 17 years as a regular Slough fan I can only really think of the 94-95 season where we got promoted to the Conference after Enfield were refused and the season we had the great run to finish in the top 5 and effectively 'stay up' that have been truly 'positive' seasons. For many reasons this would have to be my favourite year for watching the Rebels. Let's try and take it one (well two) steps further now!!!

I honestly believe we can do it on Tuesday, especially if we can find another performance as committed as yesterday.
