Romulus 1-4 Slough | SYCOB 0-2 Sutton - Were in the play-offs!!

Wow!! Think that just about sums it up!!!!

As i've seen so many Slough Town last day misfortunes (Chesham away, Fleet away) after Tuesdays defeat I decided to go to watch the SYCOB v's Sutton game, as I kinda expect the worst when I hope for the best. So many highs and lows all afternoon - mental! I really thought we had blown it after the Aylesbury match with the games left.

At about 4.45 we looked finished Sutton were all over SYCOB and Romulus had just pulled a goal back. Then I get the phonecall off Gary to say were back in front then minutes later another call to say we had won 4-1.

Cue EIGHT minutes of such tense injury-time at SYCOB for injuries and me Matt Cousins and Brian Harper (Dean's Dad) shouting at the ref to blow-up it seemed as though time was standing still!!! Sutton pushing so many men forward. Last eight minutes I did a running commentary to Gary on the phone. Not sure it made much sense, mostly me shouting at the ref to blow the whistle!

Actually about 20 Slough fans and Ricky Perks going hope happy at the end. I feel sorry for Sutton missing out by one goal, but there support was absolutely terrible. Four 'Officials' in the stand and that was it. Easily more Slough fans than Sutton fans.

As for the SYCOB match, well it was tense and Sutton had most of the play. Luckily for us the best player on the day was THAT PITCH Sutton could not get the ball down and play. SYCOB did hit the bar, but looked there for the taking. There two centre backs though Taylor-Ives and Ryan Bernard were excellent and easily their best players.

Disappointed to miss out on the celebrations at the end of the match, but just so happy we made it.

Oh and thanked Wilko at the end

Nomatter what happens Tuesday awesome day i'll always remember!

What a surreal day - every time we really needed to score we went & scored! Slightly unbelievable after all those chances went begging in the first half.

I did have a feeling it might be our day after they hit the inside of the post after 2 minutes & it stayed out - even more so after the chance they had that rolled across the 6 yard box in the second half.

Everyone was magnificent - all really battled & kept going, especially after Romulus pulled one back.

Then to add to the strangeness everyone watching Steve Bateman on the phone for 5 minutes while Ricky Perks kept him up to speed.

Fantastic day out - roll on more on Tuesday night.

Congratulations on reaching the play offs. I must admit i didn't fancy you to get there, given yours and Sutton Coldfields respective games today.

Best of luck against Hitchen, I reckon you may just sneak it.

Here's to a Windsor-Slough derby in the prem next season !!!!

God that was mental. I was shaking for about 20 minutes after the Sycob result came through...such an outstanding team performance from the Rebels today - MOM was probably Adam Martin for me, but Jacko, Sincs, Harps and Buchanan come close...

Just an awesome day out - but those last 8 minutes where we were crowded around Gary, listening to Chris, were the most tense 8 minutes of my life!

Well done Steve and the boys - was great in the bar afterwards as most of the fans waited for the players to come out of the changing rooms and cheered them like heroes when they walked in the bar - cue lots of hugs and handshakes... :)

Bring on Tuesday!

Well you couldn't have scripted that if you'd tried!!!

We should have been 3 or 4 up at half time. Els missed a couple of half chances, Sean put a header over, Deano missed a sitter and we were denied a blatant penalty. I thought at that stage we'd blown it but SYCOB were holding Sutton at half time! The second half was just a mixture of highs and lows with us scoring then news from SYCOB filtering through then us again then another Sutton goal etc.

The Rebels fans were brilliant today. Positive all the way through. Supportive all the way through and vocally we really got behind our team. Only downside of today was at home the councillors have been canvassing so we came home to find a Geoff Howard leafet staring up at us inside the door. I sorted that out by taking it outside and burning it! If you think I'm joking ask Kevin and Martin who arrived to pick Martin's car up just as I was lighting said leaflet!!!!

I'm delighted for the players who have seen the playoffs slipping away in recent weeks. To respond like they did today was magnificent. I'm also delighted for Kay and Martin who could have ended ther mammoth walk in disappointment had it gone wrong today.

Well done Rebels - see you at Hitchin

Lost for words, the way the officials were going in the first half, thought they wanted a sutton win. Drive home was amazing for a last game for a change.

Having supported slough for 46 years..this must be up there with the best ! the tension the shere effort made by the Slough Boys..incredtiable ..as Ian said you could have never written an ending like that !

who In there right minds gave us any chance ??? also credit due to our landlords ...as the minutes ticked and only playing with 10 men for 20 mins .(due to injuries) .started to time waste for us ! and even in the last few minutes nearly scored themselves...cheers Beaconsfield SYOB ...

This will be spoken about for years to come...and I was there ! Brilliant...

and so where Kay , Martin and Radders ...walk to Hitchin next ??? see you there... cheers chris sliski ... a very happy Rebel for sure !

Most importantly from my point of view was the performance. A thoroughly 'professional' effort from all who played and MUST give the lads extreme confidence that they can take on anyone. If they can take todays commitment and desire to win into Tuesday I think we have a real chance, which is more than I can honestly say as I made the journey to the match today. Admittedly Romulus did seem a little 'flat' today but I put that down to the fact that we were so single minded that we rarely allowed them to take the initiative.

I can't make Tuesday cos I am working nights and I doubt I could get from Hitchin to Leicester by 10pm ! So please, lads, make sure I have another game to go to on Saturday!

Oh and as mentioned above, fantastic POSITIVE support from 1st to 95th minute today! I never heard one negative remark (apart from those aimed at the .....erm .... less than impressive referee).

Up the Rebels

Wow, what an afternoon, we certainly got put through the full range of emotions today.

Everyone associated with the club pulled through today and a great result and performance by the team. From meeting the walkers to cheering the team for the full game to the 4-1 win plus the agonising wait for the Sutton Coldfield result, it was truely a great team effort by the fans and players.

Looking forward to Tuesday. We have nothing to lose now!

Well done to everyone today! We made it!

Haven't posted for ages.. but had to this time!

Today is what makes football the best sport in the world! In a weird perverse way I loved all of that this afternoon and with others at the end of a phone! (probably only saying that coz we won!!)

Should have been 5-0 up at haf time.. missed chances and really p*** poor officals. Jeeeez.. i've seen complaints on here many times b4, but today was beyond a joke. It did make you feel they didn't want us to win.

Crowd of 186... how many of us???? Absolutly fantastic.. sure the team played off that!

Well tone to Steve, the team and all of us! Roll on Tuesday!

I'm surprised at the comments about the referee, I don't think he was bad as such but gave several niggly decisions your way, he seemed to ref by reaction, those who shouted the loudest got the decisions. That was Slough (not a dig, it's something your players noticed and ours should have, it made a difference).

Your third goal wasn't a free kick IMO and Richard Evans (Roms 3) was clearly pulled back before Sharif picked up the loose ball that played Buchanan in... the rest is history.

As I said in my report, no complaints that the better side won but 4-1 was harsh on us, even with the glut of chances you had in the first 45.

Am gutted I wasn't able to be there either at Sutton Coldfield or Beaconsfield, was feeling rather sick with nerves at work today, but needless to say when I found out the result, everything there all of a sudden became more pleasant!!!

I think everyone has already said it, but WOW what an emotional day.

The players put in a very professional performace considering the tension they must have been feeling and we scored every time we neded to and that 10 minutes after the final whistle seemed to go on for ages.

Congratultions to the players, Steve Bateman and all the staff, and of course our chairman Steve Easterbrook (who is slightly poorer now after the players bar bill)

Roll on Tuesday

Absolutely amazing, thought at half time we were in trouble, it could have been 4-0 and they should have been down to ten men for the most obvious professional foul handball i HAVE EVER SEEN. When the tannoy announcer (haha comedy genius- read C**t) announced it was also 1-0 at SYCOB i thought we werre f**KED. But a brillaint 2nd half, Jacko made some great saves, elliot was clinical, sean run his [****!!****] off, and 2 great finished from Edge and Martin. Wow it was amazing. It made it even better asi felt throughly unwelcome as an away fan, the attitude of some of the (mainly official) people at the ground absolutely stank at times.

Well done boys. awesome.

And a huge thx to Darron as well.

What a fantastic day!!! Both my teams guaranteed play-off places.

Although originally I wasn't going to go up to see the match, I was so glad I did. It had everything, and I'd be surprised if anyone had a voice left at the end.

Well done the Rebels!

extremely proud of the boys. absolute mammoth effort by everyone. I like most deep down thought it would be too much of an ask to better Sutton's score but fair play to Beaconsfield and of course more importantly the Slough players who luckily believed in themselves to get stuck in and do the business. to score 4 goals with that much pressure away from home against a team that are certainly no mugs was a superb performance.

so hard to pick out individuals that stood out over others as they were all exceptional and all played a part to the team.

Seeby and Yeboah were awesome i thought winning almost every high ball and taking command.

Adam Martin couldn't have put in any more effort battling in midfield for every ball determined not to lose control when in possession.

strangely Sinclair (usually seen as our main hope of creating chances) was fairly quiet especially 1st half but 1st half particularly was all about Mo Sharif. for his age he put in and incredible showing. never shys away from the ball always looking to play people in

Sonner workrate top notch but when is it ever not??

Buchanan was coolness personified. how well did he take his 2 goals especially the 2nd considering time was gushing away. it looked like he had took it too far towards the keeper but what a calm finish. take a bow son take a bow

we have nothing to fear now and lets hope this gives us a HUGE confidence boost going into the playoffs. lets hope we can capitilise on the other 3 teams "taking it easy" in the last few games due to early qualification
