Tonights Game

Well, 3 points we desperately needed, hard fought for but deserved. Should have been a few up by half time, got a bit nervy and then we scored a fantastic free kick. Terrific save by the defender on the line (followed by some face holding as if it had hit him there, nice try!!) This was then followed by a penalty miss and the ten men actually performed better than the eleven, the shot that hit the crossbar very nearly brought BG even but a draw would have been unfair and we should have had teh game won by then.

I would have to say the ref very nearly caused a few punch ups, he had no control and it was pure luck that no players got injured, but what is the point of linesmen if they do absolutely nothing, the one on the punto stand side was useless, to the poitn that I don't think he gave a decision by himself during the whole of the first half.

so Bracknell Saturday, clearly we should win that game but we need to vigilant and treat them with respect and get the job done, then Monday becomes our BIG MATCH, the cup final to win the league. It all comes down to one game, pressure or what.

Well done to the lads tonight and good luck for Saturday, here's hoping I am coming to the game Monday full of hope for the title and come Tuesday morning i have aheadache from celebrating too much.

Last nights game was pretty similar to Saturday, we had lots of the ball and got into some really good positions but time and again the final ball was letting us down.

Great free kick from Dickens to win the game. I was quite impressed with him last night, he seems to have added a bit more bite to his game. He seems to be coming into full fitness at just the right time.

I thought Bedfont defended well. Apart from hitting the bar I can only recall our keeper having to make one or two other saves. They clearly missed Henry up front, he would have caused us problems. For the 35th or so game in a row I was confidently predicting our opponents would tire midway thought second half. Fair play to Bedfont they kept going and were still flying into tackles well into stoppage time. I only hope Taunton take a leaf out of Bedfont's book and show the same level of desire, effort and commitment on Saturday against Totton.

The ref had a strange game. Most of what happened he didn't seem to see and some of the stuff he did see didn't seem to have happened. Most weeks we moan about refs who blow up for everything and give free kicks for the most mundane of infringements, and yet last night we had the opposite and we were still moaning. To be fair he did miss some nasty tackles and it was beginning to look like it was only a matter of time before somebody got injured.

The penalty incident was highly entertaining. What a save, followed by a fine piece of acting, even after being shown the red card he was still in character protesting his innocence. He finished of his fine display of gamesmanship by giving the crowd behind the goal a fine 2 fingered salute. I thought I was at a pantomime for a minute.

Hopefully we can get a confidence boosting big win on Sat (quite frankly I'd take 1-0) then it’s on to Monday night. Maybe everyone coming through the turnstiles should get a free shot of rum to calm the nerves as its going to be nail biting stuff.

The scene was set when the ref just had a word when the Windsor player elbowed the Bedfont Green player in the face after about 3 or 4 mins, followed about 10 mins later by another one. Poor poor officiating, which like you say wasn't helped by 2 linesman that waited for the ref to make his call first..

Overall it was a balls out game. Interesting to see some of the comments above though. I think Windsor worked hard for their win, but were made to by Bedfont. I think a score of more than 1-0 would have been very harsh on Bedfont.

As people have said, Chris Henry may have made a difference, especially as an outlet when we went down to 10, but thems the breaks.

All yours to throw away now.

Another nerveracking night last night! I thought we made hard work of it although i couldn't see Bedfont Green scoring. Why no Nathan Jack again? Come on Scotty let the Jack out of the box! I think theres a song there somewhere!

We should have been a couple up by half time and nerves quelled, but we made it difficult for ourself by not finishing when we should have. I hope we make easier work of Bracknell, but it is 3 points we need. A good point made by D-Dog when I chatted to him earlier is that Butts is back in the side and 3 clean sheets in a row, coincidence or amazing what the captain and leader can bring back to a side.

I like Mrs cat's idea of a free shot of rum on entry, we are going to need something to keep our nerves steady cos I think if we need to win the game to win the league then it will be a very tight affair. Even a weakened VT team will be dangerous, and we will be trying possibly too hard, imagine the stress the players would be feeling to win the game and win the league, in front of what I would imagine would be a very big crowd.

I guess at the start of the season knowing that we would need to win the last game we would probably not have been too upset, but a couple of months ago we were talking about when we would win the league with how many games spare, been an exciting rollercoaster ride just hope we finish the job, its been a long time since we last won a league..........
