Maidstone v Bognor Regis

I guess someone has to spell it out.

we are definately and irretrievably relegated.

Somewhat ironic that its maidstone who finally seal our fate after a long lingering death.

Still-there's always the FA Cup draw to look forward to, and our fine tradition of exiting at the earliest possible stage, which can now be even earlier next season.

Irretrievable by proper means Michael but there is still that "get out of jail" ticket going (am reliably informed though not confirmed) & therefore not entirely irretrievable.

Whether its liked or not, whether we deserve it or not, whether its right or its wrong in some eyes its still a possibility & its one I personally would have no shame in accepting & taking for a 2nd time. If its on offer clubs should go for it.

We win at Home on Saturday & Ashford lose at Home then we get that 19th position & still with an outside chance of staying up.

Hastings too will be wanting to win this one (a draw will be no good to them) as they still have a chance of the play offs.

Not quite a done deal "just" yet for both sides at Hartsdown Park this week-end so there's still ALL to play for,so still a massive game for both clubs on Saturday.

Should Ashford go on to win & seal our fate once & for all regardless of what we do then they could finish out of the bottom 4 altogether so they will be going for it I'm sure & that might leave them open at the back which in turn could swing things our way down there.Who knows!

If Ashford do win they could also swop places with Carshalton if Carshalton lose at Wealdstone (still also requiring a result for a play-off spot) & be out of the bottom 4 altogether & it is then Carshalton that would then benefit from any reprieve.

A win on Saturday & nothing less please Ian O'Connell & the players of Margate Football Club & if thats not enough on the day then so be it. We move down & we move on.

With Grays almost certainly going 'direct 'from conference to ryman premier-does that not make it even more unlikely this season that the team in 19th will be reprieved ?

All the trouble is ooop north-kings lynn /farsley and with those leagues are already short of numbers-so those leagues can't afford to lose a club in the AGM cup-; i really can't see where the hoped for reprieve for a ryman club is coming from this season.

Unlike last seaon when there were specific clubs in trouble and you could sense the vacancy arising 'for all the chatter on here with regards to reprieves-i have not read a single specific post from anybody about how the 'vacancy' will be specifically derived.

It seems to me ,its the usual talk of being positive in adversity, not over until the fat lady sings, were going to win, blah de blah ;and of course it never happens.Talking and typing positively is just words-unfortunately-you have to have the skills , endeavour and take the right action to do something about it and make things happen.

I guess ultimately wellsie is right-we have lost the battle-but won the war against hmrc-and i seek solace in that-but somehow this morning,it sure don't feel like it.

They say time is a healer though.

I agree Michael. there has been a lot of bluster about reprieves but it smacks of desperation. I am not aware of any team in our league "going to the wall" or desiring to switch to another league and there has been no reported issues with the teams that will be promoted from the South and North and if Grays are dropping down to Ryman I cannot see how any team finishing in the relegation places (sadly but inevitably confirmed for us last night) will be reprieved. We just have to accept we have not been good enough the past two seasons and are not deserving of a place in the Premier next season. I do think though that if there are not too many changes we will have a good season in the South and a little bit of a cup run would be nice one and is long overdue!

Blue Balls & Michael I too am not sure that a reprieve is forthcoming for anyone & I too can't see where one is coming from (though word I have is that one will), but if we do get through & it dosent happen then it dosen't happen & we move on.

Yes,I agree over the season we haven't earned the right to stay up but we have this one last "possible" chance to do just that on Saturday & to make up for it & if we do win & results go our way & we do get a repreive then in some small way we WILL have earned our place.

All I'm saying is that all the time there is a "possibility" of a reprieve then we should be going all out & playing for it just so long as we don't "not turn up on the day" on Saturday & do what we did at Hendon & Staines in the past on the last days of the season & hand it to the opposition on a plate..

I heard yesterday the Ryman heirachy is not looking on Grays in a favourable light. I don't care if we deserve to stay up or not, as long as we do. Desperate? So be it!

Still, we need to beat Hastings tomorrow!.

If a team applies to join Ryman don't they go into the lower division Edited by DEREK

I have it on very good authority that at the most 3 will go down.

I do not expect Grays to be in the Ryman Premier - I expect them to be in the Essex Senior League or Ryman 1 North at the best.

For starters they cannot play in the Ryman Premier whilst ground sharing at a club which does not have the ground grading in place by the end of March, and secondly they should go down three steps at least.

Both teams tomorrow will have to 'go 4 it' for their own reasons and even then it's still in the hands of others. Our home form at HDP has been, well sure you all know, so not gona dwell on that point. Gona be a roller coaster ride of emotions tomorrow I can see a very open game, all to play for and plenty of goals and by 5pm we will know our fate. If as it seems we do drop at least we are still in buisness unlike some other clubs and lets hope the club can hang onto I would say two thirds of our current squad to get us back up in the prem for 2011/12 season.

HEADS UP FOLKS - LET'S GIVE THE TEAM ROUSING SUPPORT TOMORROW AGAINST HASTINGS.

AND IF THINGS DON'T GO OUR WAY, THEN SO BE IT!

BUT PLEASE, PLEASE NO BOOING FROM ANYBODY IF WE GO DOWN - THEY (THE TEAM AND MANAGER) DON'T DESERVE IT!

THEY HAVE GIVEN IT THEIR BEST - AND YOU CAN''T ASK FOR ANY MORE THAN THAT.

Thanks for that CE-its the first specific on reprieves i've read, even if it is still 'forum chatter'

Here's a bit more 'forum chatter being specific on the issue.

http://forums.footballwebpages.co.uk/forum.jsp?id=18&article=105348

Not that clear cut this season it seems-and certainly less favourable to the ryman premier than it is clubs in unibond and zamerretto.

Maybe though-just a little bit of hope for the ryman club in 19th.

Can we actually clinch that spot just the saem-relies on us winning and ashford losing.

I have my doubts anyway (awaits all the keep positive/keep the faith replies).

Unfortunately-out of our hands

A draw for me today and ashford will also get a draw,as we blow it yet again.

How delusional are some of you Margate fans thinking that you can still stay up, which you definately don't deserve and how ironic that Maidstone were responsible for darkening you last glimmer of hope with our win against Bognor.

I said during the season that I personally always enjoy the local derbies between us and that I wouldn't want you to go down.

However, having seen some of your posts wishing Maidstone to go bust so that you get a reprieve and the fact that no one on your forum argued against them type of comments, by the way, I wouldn't wish any club going bust, even my worst enemy, I can't wait for Five o'clock today whilst sipping a nice pint of beer at Kingstonian and waiting for the tele printer on sky sports to show that you are relegated.

Happy days and no more looking down your noses at Ramsgate.
