What happened with Colney v Tok manor last night

Recommended Posts

How is this possible considering Holmer Green played on the same pitch Monday night???

The Chief - You said it, not me

I take it you are no longer defending the indefensible Rhodes. Funny that.

I expect you've remembered to pack your matches?

So who called it off and then decided it should be played at Colney, giving them a days rest and home advantage where they should smash them, the Tok pitch is a leveller, and not once did Holmer deem it unplayable, they just got on with the job and played it, somethings going on here!!

Chief

Nothing is going on although it may appear that way.London Colney arrived at TM @ 6pm for the game , the ref then called it off because apparently to pitch was to dangerous to play on.I believe LC offered TM to play the game @ LC originally and offered the usual to pay the ex's etc.The biggest issue should be if the pitch was played on, on Monday and known to be poor why was nothing done to it or an earlier pitch inspection made to save LC travelling?

This is what i have been told anyway.

So who called it off and then decided it should be played at Colney,

The Chief - The Referee inexplicably called the game off but I haven't got a clue who's bright idea it was to play at Cotlandswick this evening, anyway it isn't.

Tokyngton Manor v London Colney

This was my third attempt to Avenue Park and once again with no luck frown.gif. In the first two occasions games were called off due to waterlogged pitch. Tonight happened the opposite, the pitch was too dry with a few random cracks and it was called off for the joy of the travelling fans.

In conclusion I can comfartably say that Avenue Park has by far the worst pitch in the London area.

Keeps - In all seriousness you could tell from the moment the Referee walked through the so called Gates of Heaven last night at about 6.45 he was not interested in the slightest to play that game, he even had a postponement form with him and I haven't known that many Officials to carry one particularly not in April.

Keeps - Well we actually think that he is an Aston Villa fan and was keen to watch their game at Hull last night, I assume it was live on Sky

Game now off tonight, Tokington called our secretary at 10.20pm last night to say they wouldnt be travelling as agreed.

We left the Tokington ground at 8.30 with everything organised and agreed, referee and officials, through the league all in place, even gone as far as organising catering etc.

Before anyone starts on about pulling a fast one, we arrived at 5.50 for 7.30 kick off, pitch clearly not playable, 15 of our squad of 16 arrived by 6.35 after awful M25 journey. We have five league games left to be played by 1st of May, 2 Finals on the 8th and 11th, not sure what the benefit of getting the game called off. Anyone there last night could see what our players thought of the decision to call it off. We have only lost 2 of our last 29 league and cups games, not sure really why we would be running away.

If it had been rearranged Thursday night it would have less than 48 hours before Saturdays game, cant see any real advantage on us, as we also have a game next Monday, three games in five days, a tough ask.

We played Monday night in a league game, on Tuesday we played St Margetsbury in the Semi final of the Herts Charity, sadly because of this game on Wednesday we had to play a reserve team, with only 3 players of Mondays first team16 involved. As well as they played, we were sick to have to field our reserves in a cup semi final.

Not really sure how the Holmer game on Monday was ever played, but that for them to comment on, Pitch is rutted, never been rolled, large areas have cracks in, the wings are just rock solid, other areas are dust/sand pits, there are holes and trenches in it, photos to follow. We were told the pitch was meant to have been watered.

The areas off the pitch are dangerous, in a number of areas the grass just finishes 50cm from the edge of the pitch, concrete barriers/posts in places are less than 120cm from the edge of the pitch not over 2m, pitch borderline widthwise we made it 61m, clearly the pitch has been widened a meter on both sides old lines still visible but not a problem, no penalty spots last night, no seats in the stand, sorry not a level 6 ground in any way shape or form.

Referee walked the pitch for a good ten minutes and called it straight off, not even willing to give it a go, we are gutted, but he was absolutely right, see the comment from a hopper on the another website about the pitch,

In reply to Mr Rhodes comment , the ref got the form from our sec and not as stated

We really didnt need this, Our third call off in five/six weeks, we all arrived at Hoddesden midweek to be told the game was off due to a cloudburst, We went to Sporting Benfica midweek, the game was called off as we were warming up due to a burst drainage pipe in the carpark that had occured in the afternoon.

As a footnote to all this, what i will say, is that on hearing what is going on behind the scenes last night, what a terrific job the Tokington Manor Chairman is doing to keep it all going. You can only applaud his efforts, his efforts deserve a little more help and support.

Ironically would have been the biggest Tokington crowd of the season judging by the number of people arriving, maybe you should see if any of them think it was playable.

I couldn't help getting the impression that London Colney weren't overly keen to play on Wednesday evening unlike Holmer Green on Monday who arrived, got changed, rolled up their sleeves and professionally just got on with it
