Leyton & Harlow

Recommended Posts

http://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/league.jsp?comp=12

Leyton and Harlow occupy the two bottom places in Ryman 1 North and even with the rumoured 9 point deduction for Ilford, they would still have enough points to avoid dropping into the bottom two. With Maldon confirmed as staying in one north now and Tiptree resigning, the only other rumours doing the rounds are Grays & AFC Hornchurch.

Next season ESL could be : Grays, AFC Hornchurch, Harlow Town, Leyton FC. Witham Town, Enfield FC, Burnham Ramblers, Bowers & Pitsea.

If the rumours are correct Grays will be playing in Rymans Premier next season, and groundsharing with East Thurrock United. There are also strong rumours that Hornchurch will be back in the ESL next season which is probably the level that they should be playing at.

I'm sure the league will have more than 8 clubs. Why not mention Basildon and Barking who have at least as much history, if not more, and more right to call themselves big clubs than some of those that you mention. Oh and Enfield FC don't exist. Enfield 1893 FC play in the Essex Senior League.

Leyton could go out of business altogether. That's a very real possibility.

So what was the point...... why are Bowers for example more worthy of a mention than Barking? Barking will be right up there next season mark my words.

Ok apologies to Barking who went on a brilliant run of form where they were top for March. Well done Barking and good luck for next season. Basildon great friendly club look forward to their visit Saturday and meeting up with Richard again.

I better acknowledge Clapton who were in the Ryman as well.

Edit.

How did i forget Coachie... Hullbridge Champions 2010-11.

Knowledge is the bomb !

Going slightly off topic, but talking about Barking.

Why / when did they drop the "& East Ham United"?

As they used to be two separate clubs, merged and then drop the "& East Ham United"

Coup is good at the old history or FcFan.

When we went into liquidation in the summer of 2006 and went into the ESL, we were 'reformed' as Barking FC '- at that point in time the East Ham United part of the name being part of the old club was not retained.

i heard some very interesting news about the bottom two in Ryman north !

All i will say is things may not turn out as expected !

There's a load of rumours going round. Even people at Romford were telling us last night that we'd be safe. Still can't see it being as clear cut as that...

Care to go into more detail ;-)

Its all just rumours at the moment, but I think its fair to say that not one Romford fan wants you to go down. Brilliant ground and easily the best supporters we have had the privilege to entertain for years. Also it was a great game last night and Harlows supporters made it that much more special. Its such a shame our neighbors from the wrong side of the borough cant be as nice.

Well Leyton will either go bust or.... even if they don't they've asked to be relegated. Many of you will know that their chairman and financial backer was jailed last year and without him they just cannot fund a Ryman club.

So they will essentially take Harlow's bottom place in Ryman One North and either disappear back from whence they appeared or get relegated.

Then it depends how many clubs go bust higher up the pyramid.

Then it depends how many clubs from step 5 have applied for promotion (and have met grading) and finished in first position.

Then it depends how many clubs from step 5 have applied for promotion (and have met grading) and finished in second position - in leagues where the first placed team cannot be promoted.

After all that..... if there are still spots available at step 4 they will be awarded accordingly to clubs who have finished second bottom (which after Leyton's disappearance will essentailly be where Harlow sit). The problem Harlow will then have is that between all the 2nd bottom sides across step 4 the remaining places will be awarded to the 2nd bottom teams in order of the best points per games ratio, and with only having 14 points with 1 to play...... I'd suggest Harlow are probably bottom of that list.

Only at that point (when all step 4 spots are full) will Geography come into play and the step 4 leagues will then be shuffled as the FA, in their wisdom, see fit. The fact is that for Harlow, Bethnal Green United getting second place would have been the one that they'd have wanted as they don't meet grading to go up and it would have meant one less step 5 team to worry about.

All in all it's good news for Witham (or Burnham) as second in the Senior league looks very likely to be a promotion place..... for Harlow I think survival will be touch and go.... they are relying on clubs going bust above them and having to drop into step 5 leagues or lower.

Yep, lots of ifs, buts and maybe's.

Question is, if Stansted win the Title, which now looks likely. Is the Ryman League obliged to take the 2nd placed team or can they choose to do as they wish?
The Ryman League can offer advise to the F.A, but the overall decision is theF.A's on how they apply the 14 league's into 12 promotion places, going along the lines explained by FcFan.

It is my understanding that under the new internal guidleines agreed by the FA two years ago, the FA would be obliged to prioritise the second placed team in a step5 league (who have made grading where the first placed team didn't) AHEAD of a 2nd bottom team in a Step4 league.
