And they're off!!

That's ok Ian. You mean you didn't already know where to pick them up from :)

Yes, I did......roughly!

Anyway, I'm beginning to think this walk is not what they're making it out to be. Every time I talk to Kay they're either just heading for a pub, just leaving a pub, or asking to be picked up...........from a pub!

Relating what they've done so far it's a Harrow walk followed by the Berkhamsted walk then Met Police. :applaus:

Well that's the last we'll see of them until Saturday now - dropped them back in Adderbury this morning for another 20 miles or thereabouts today. Can't say I'll miss driving up and down the M40 for the next two days!!

By just after lunchtime they'll have hit a big milestone as they'll have completed about 63 miles and therefore surpass the 62 mile Worthing walk distance. :excited:

Update at 12:45pm. Guess what? Yep, they're in the pub!!! At least they've found one that does food this time. Feet are sore but they'll shortly be leaving to soldier on.

Forgot to add earlier that as they are now away both nights before Saturday they are carrying rucksacks as well which will make their journey that bit more difficult! Martin's especially weighed a bloody ton...........and they say women take loads of stuff! :biglaugh:

They have finally arrived safely at today's destination - a little village called Lighthorne. An ok day although it's very hot and various bits are starting to get sore or achy! They also have a half mile walk to the nearest puib for dinner - up a hill! :icon22:

They've now completed a mammoth 73 miles. Brilliant effort :161:

Day five has begun and another 20 miles beckons for Kay and Martin. They have to climb a few hills to get them out of Adderbury which will hurt as the legs loosen up from yesterday. Their biggest challenge however seems to be the heat and sunburn to the backs of the legs!

Will update later at which time they'll no doubt be in a public house!!

It's great to read these updates - we're all thinking of you utterly brilliant, but utterly insane walkers.

Fingers crossed you get some shade to walk through today - lots of water, lots of food, and loud tunes on the ipod to power up those hills!

I think Charlie's right - insane it is. They're at about the 85 mile mark now and have reached Warwick :shocked2:

The problem they're having today (and yesterday) is that the route is quite rural so they don't stumble across shops too often. That means they have to carry lots of drink when they get the chance to buy some which just adds to the weight they're already carrying. No respite from the sun either - it's a scorcher apparently. About a dozen miles to go today.

To be honest I can not think of the best words to describe there efforts ..they should be knighted for their efforts ..outstanding...feat ...brilliant...

I am truly humbled by Kay & Martin

A long day today. The heat is taking its toll and although it was "only" 20 or so miles today they have had to take plenty of breaks to rest and take on fluids. It's also been a day of hills, almost none of them down!! They are staying tonight in Hampton in Arden which is just east of Solihull. It's also just south of Meriden which cyclists will know is geographically the middle point of England. That puts into context how far they've gone. Hell they're only 7 miles from Birmingham International Airport!!!

For those patrons of previous walks so far they've now gone 94 miles - that's the Worthing walk PLUS the Met Police walk PLUS the Harrow walk. By the time we see them tomorrow they'll have added the Hampton walk to all of that lot too. :applaus:

They are doing magnificently. They've DONE magnificently!! Kay was gutted not to be able to do the Worthing walk so was determined to do this. I'm so proud of her :29:

Can only add to the congratulations. Wish I was with them and just feel miserable in the fact I've missed it all, and feeling like I've let people down. Anyone that knows me and listens to my incessent ramblings of 'I'm the only person to do all 9 walks' and 'I better get an award for my 10th year walk anniversary next year', will know that this is killing me. I'm still only at about 50/60% but will be doing my utmost to be at tomorrow's game.

Kay and Martin - I'm sure you won't read this before you finish now, but thanks for your texts earlier which cheered me up and also for the roadkill update the other day, which made me laugh. Absolute legends!!!

Radders - listen carefully, I'll say this once! YOU AREN'T/HAVEN'T LET ANYONE DOWN. Everyone knows you well enough to appreciate it must have been serious for you to miss the last few days. You did the first day and put your health at risk and that's commitment enough. You're a legend too for even trying. Alfie, by the way, asked me to call you a genius!!!!!

Radders, I better than most can appreciate how you're feeling right now. I'm not ashamed to admit that when you and the other Worthing walkers left on the Saturday morning, I wept.

Facing everybody on the supporters coach later that day was hell. But I would not have been able to have walked those miles. Knowing when to stop was the right thing to do, and the only person who thought I had let anybody down was me. The fact you, Martin and Kay were mental enough to consider this epic walk is to your enormous credit.

Chin up Mark. You've walked hundreds of miles for the cause already. Now get yourself fixed and healthy so you can be at the match on Saturday.

I've lots to do this morning so my update is an early one! Kay and Martin have about another 13 miles to do today :brille008: . Their plan is to set off from Hampton In Arden at about 9:00am.

By the time we see them at Coles Lane they will have walked just short of 110 miles. Use whatever means of comparison you want........2 x London to Brighton bike rides, over 4 x London Marathons etc. Whichever way you look at it, that's a staggering achievement!!!!!!

They will be arriving at the ground at around 2:30pm. I know the bar is the natural habitat of most Rebels fans but please please please could I ask that everybody drags themselves out for just 5 minutes or so to welcome them in. They have raised loads of money for a great charity (Crossroads) but also our Supporters Trust and given STFC generally a heap of good publicity. Lets make sure we give them the welcome they deserve. :applaus: :applaus: :applaus:
