Slough 5-1 Ducks

Did what we had to do today and never thought we were really in any danger of losing. Looked a bit tired and leggy at times in the second-half after Thursday night and they had a lot of the ball in the socond-half against tired players, but that was probably to be expected.

Sutton were 3-1 ahead against Burnham which is disappointing and will be interesting to know what type of team Burnham put out.

That result now makes Monday (Sutton v's Rothwell) and Tuesday (Slough v's Hitchin) crucial. Need to have our fingers crossed Monday and hope that Sutton don't win, but if they do they don't win by many as GD now looks like it could be vital.

gotta say it looks like its going to take quite some performances for us to get playoffs now with that Sutton Coldfield win. we MUST take at least 4 points from last 2 games now

today was pretty much job done and the +4 goal difference that comes out of the game as said could be vital. could easily have had a few more goals as at least 3 times the woodwork was hit

Ok lets face it; Jarvis was always going to put a weakened side out. If he can have some say on us not getting playoffs then he will take it.

Saying that I think Slough did the job today and now all pressure is on Sutton Coldfield. Yes they have easier games than us but they HAVE to win both of them to stand a realistic chance. I think also it would be good if we could get two wins and avoid Bury/Hitchin in the playoffs assuming Chesham lose one of theirs.

I would love a shot at Burnham as I think we are the better team and we can beat them!! we beat Burnham and get our confidence boosting for the final and you never know.

Thought yesterdays perfomance was exactly what was required - good goal difference achieved and then players rested.

The other important thing yesterday was the club side - seeing the mascots on the pitch, the presentation of the Breast Cancer cheque and the walkers getting in some "practice" at half time.

Getting into the play-offs and going up is one thing, but the importance of the club and what it does and how it holds the fans together sometimes get overlooked.

As for Burnham and Jarvis, seeing how they play and the "culture" there give me Slough Town any day and keep Jarvis well away!

Yes clive true what you say ...the foundations of a successful club is built on its supporters and having a great Chairman really helps..the Rebels to stand out...

Also good luck to Aylesbury Utd....even though they were down and out still managed to bring a good healthy support ..and I wish well them ...fingers crossed

they too get it right...

Also a Big thanks to those walkers , to even think about walking 120 miles or so...you are mad or just plain crazy..however good luck to you all..

Some of the anti-Burnham posts on here in the last few days have been laughable. If they're a village team with low crowds and dirty players... why are they ahead of Slough Town?

I touched on what Clive and Chris are saying in my last blog of the season http://sloughtownsoapbox.blogspot.com/2010/04/to-wire.html The club is being built on proper foundations and we will rise up the leagues again. Of course the manager and players have a massive part to play, but equally do our support, having a great chairman, an active supportes trust and plenty of volunteers to help run the club. It was like Picaddily Circus on the pitch before the game, and Ruben loved it (he also loved Sue and Pepe dishing out the sweets). Thanks to the club, Ollie, Alan, the ref and all the players for being so accomodating.

They are ahead of Slough Town because they are a team who have been together for about 3 seasons now and have some good players.

You can't blame Slough fans for thinking Jamie was going to put out a weakened side, after all he said he was 'resting' players this week in the local press. Fair play to him for putting out a full side though. As for the Village team, well they are that and as for the dirty players, well their discipline record does not lie!

What a load of old twaddle that SR and his mates keep spouting. Why does success for your club have to be mingles with your constant dig at other clubs ? I'm quite happy to see Burnham and slough do well on top of my own team, surely its good for local football.

You still haven't lost your arrogance about being too good for this level of football. Burnham did field a strong side so why talk when you don't know the facts. You seem to have an obsession with Burnham and Jarvo, why would Jarvo want to be your manager when he has every chance of managing at a higher level next season, bigger budget, excellent facilities and good connections with local football so the future seems quite bright for them. Are you having a go at them because they turned you down for a groundshare a few years back ? And in terms of support so what if Burnham have 80-100 fans and you have 250 what does it matter, your attendance yesterday wasnt that good considering someone said Aylesbury brought a fair number and your support is down on last year. Windsor and Burnham have secured their play off places at home, i hope you can do the business but think maybe your another year off making a realistic chance, Sutton C look likely to have an advantage with the games theyhave to play.

I personally dont.. mind if someone does better than us..good luck to them....and the bragging rights are their's...if promotion is made..

This is part and parcel of the game...but too many people forget that you should never upset people on the way up because you might meet them on the way back down !

Windsorian..has made a good comment ....but maybe he has forgotten the amount of times we have had others on here from our local teams doing much the same...

This is again part and parcel of the game, if thats what they think , so be it but you dont have to believe it...or take umbridge...

its also plain old rivalry ....which goes with every football club up and down this land...

good luck to all ...our local teams...
