Southend v Canvey games always count. Same as Canvey v Gravesend. The same way as if Spurs played Arsenal in a Friendly - that counts too. So stop trying to play the game down and just swallow your seagull sh*t pride and admit to yourself that your First XI got beat by Canvey Island.

 

You have to admit if we see you next season in the conf it will make for two fantastic games! But thats not all there is to look forward too. Lets not forget you'll also be playing Gravesend and Canvey Fans will enjoy watching you getting beat by them too.

Friendlies are nothing more than a chance for the squad to get match fit and for new players to work with more established team members. They mean nothing. But when it counts, that's why 12,000 piled into Roots Hall and watched us stuff you Pikeys and your stupid bugle.

Never mind come May it will be four leagues - Southend in Division Two and CIFC Ryman Division One!

As I have said on this forum before...they are pre season friendlies and therefore there to get players match fit, try out new players and see some higher division teams blah, blah, blah. Altho I know some will get their gander up, the real games start on 16th August and that is when the win, lose, draw counts, banter starts and all pre season goodwill finishes...Altho, I will say, we are playing Gillingham on Monday and if we do better against 'em then Canvey a small "dig" will be in order (or out of order) <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />
