All a bit quiet here ?

 

Having seen the pre season friendlies ( I saw the Millwall & Gillingham games )..what does everyone think then ??? Mid Table ?

 

Still think we need a natural goalscorer.....someone who can tap 'em in from six yards...a poor man's Gary Lineker maybe ??

 

Other than that... been fairly pleased with what I have seen....just need to get that bit more "ooomph" ( footballing term !)in the penalty area I think.......

Last season we made a good start before having a terrible November and December, I think we need to get some good points in August and September again to avoid a season long relegation battle.

It's a shame that Wilkerson won't be available for the start of the season as it will be vital to keep the goals against down as it is hard to imagine us getting a lot of goals.

There were plenty of clubs of a similar standard to us last season and I am sure there will be again this year. I shouldn't be at all surprised if it doesn't go down to the last match again but I am confident we will stay up.

At last, a post! I think it's absolutely vital to get off to as good a start as possible. Don't forget about our injury woes last season as that really did unsettle us.(remember 2 PASE lads and an injured defender on the bench at Chester?) When we went up, we were an unknown quantity, except at Burton(!)and with this many potential new players we still are. I agree that it'll go down to the wire again but I am confident that we'll not only stay up but finish a fairly respectable mid-table. There you go, there's my kiss of death!!

We could finish mid table, we could finish bottom three. The question is, do u think we have a stronger team than last season? Its very debatable. I think we are a lot stronger defensively, pretty much the same in midfield (Drury is an excellent signing) and weaker at the moment up front. I predicted a finish of 13th earlier and ill stand by that so long as we get another striker of proven ability in. Huggins may be good but he's unproven, never played conference football and almost on his way to Tonbridge from Fisher before he popped up trialing with us. He can be a decent squad player or better but we need A.N.Other up front. Will Evans score 15 conference goals. I firmly predict no.If u cant score goals u wont win matches and how often did we rely on Jacko and Benners to score for us last season. Im sure Andy WILL as he has tried this month to get a proven player in. Do u think we've played enough friendlies, 2 home matches doesnt seem enough really.

We've played too many friendlies against irrelevant opposition. Gillingham, Millwall and Team Bath! It's all very well comparing ourselves to superior teams (and mullering weaker ones) and the gate money's nice but maybe friendlies against Margate, Woking etc. would have been more beneficial on the pitch, to all parties. I think the Canvey friendly will be the best test so far. Not too much between us. I predict 2-0 Fleet....oh, memories...
