Burnham 1-1 Slough

It seems at Burnham are using the new rule wher you have to count ALL season ticket holders regardless of if they go or not, in a imaginative way...

This was said on the Bury forum

"When Bedworth came to us recently. a couple of their fans told me that they took about 30 fans to Burnham. They counted 16 other people in the ground.

They told me that they asked a Burnham fan(?) how come their crowds were always declared at 100+. The Burnham fan told them that the club had distributed a number of free season tickets around the surrounding estate/houses, and that these were included in the gate declaration whether or holders of these freebies attended the game.

Not sure how true this is but it made an interesting story. "

A lot of clubs count their season ticket holders in their attendance. After all they have effectively paid to be there.

Whether or not you can include promotional tickets I guess is another thing. At the end of the day it's not doing them any favours as people can quite clearly see they are lying. If they are doing it for sponsorship surely that's a big risk, as the sponsors could easily turn around and say their advertising isn't reaching its intended audience.

Not entirely sure what to make of that. Thought like Saturday we played pretty well again, but created few chances for all our posession. Everyone for Slough played pretty well with Adam Martin probably the best player on the pitch.

When they had the man sent-off we controlled the game, but with Burnham's style of play and workrate even with 10-men they are very hard to break down. Awful Ref, Huddell should not have been sent-off but the 11 (I think) who went over to top on Edgeworth defintely should have been sent-off.

Can't help thinking that if we won tonight and took care of our next two games, and Bury beat Sutton Thursday play-off's would have been guarenteed for sure.

Now looks like it could go to the final week even if we win our next two games unless Bury and Burnham also do us a favour Saturday, but think Jarvis may rest a few Saturday - and going into the final week needing something against title chasing Hitchin and a Rothwell side looking for 'revenge' after our home game worries me.

Also attendance 507??

I cannot see how Slough can get promoted this season, they are simply not good enough. Apart from short spells against Burnham, they were second best, and thats with Burnham down to ten men for the second half. I was very dissapointed with Slough's performance in what was a so called, huge derby game, with Slough's season on the line. They look toothless in and around the penalty area and lacked a real passion required for these type of games. ( The exception being Adam Martin on the night )

They tried their hardest to lose the game after being one up and Burnham down to ten men, and should have as well if Fenemore had squared the ball in the last couple of minutes.

I hope Slough make the play off's, but promotion is purely a dream.

Are you a Slough fan? I think you must have been watching the game with your scarf over your eyes, we were all over them in the second half. How many corners did we have compared

to them? And what about their last ditch defending at the end?

I think we sussed out some time ago that wcw was a Burnham supporter after he kept singing the praises of Jarvis.

He didn't deny it and has been very quiet ever since he was rumbled.

As you say WR we dominated for long periods of the game just couldn't find the net due to some desperate Burnham defending.

Get Real, its not personal, surely you can see it.

I would much rather see Slough Town beat Burnham out of site, but they could'nt. You say Slough dominated, but I cannot remember too many saves their keeper had to make, no matter how many corners or long throw ins. Burnham's last ditch defending was how you are supposed to defend when on the back foot. When Slough are under any pressure they concede.

Like I say, I hoped Slough would win the league rather than Burnham, Slough need a higher level of football and should have a better team than what they've got. They are more equipped and ambitious but that team is not good enough to achieve it, it certainly lacks the passion and desire the Burnham team shows.

I disagree there, and i think if slough can manage to hold that 5th play off place they have a good chance to go on and win it :bartshocked:

the 5th place sides have traditionally done well in the play offs and with their away record being good it wont matter if they are away, there is also the factor of the likes of hitchin etc underestimating them as the weaker side when it is a bit of a lottery/cup final. Bateman like jarvo has been there before so my prediction is a Burnham slough final.
