Match report for those who couldn't make it.

Lowestoft Town (0) 0

Enfield Town (0) 0

Attendance 771

A cracking performance from both sides left the crowd wondering how this game ended goalless. Both attacks created plenty of chances, but two in form defences, and two superb goal keeping displays meant we were denied a goal.

Enfield’s players formed a guard of honour for the Champions elect at the start of the game, and seemed to be in awe of Lowestoft for the next 20 minutes or so, as the home side bossed the early stages.

With only two minutes on the clock, Joe Clark squandered a gilt edged chance inside the box, when he was unmarked but couldn’t control his shot. Matt Nolan tried a shot from outside the box, but it was blocked. Rory Smith did well shielding the ball back to Rob Blackburne under pressure from Clark, but Enfield were starting to get more into the game. Wallace played Stuart Blackburne through, but his shot was at keeper Andy Reynolds. Almost immediately Nolan forced a save from Blackburne with a low drive. Some good driving runs from Jamie Forshaw was causing the Enfield defence problems, and when he appeared at the back post to stab the ball home he was unfortunate to see it ruled out for offside. Blackburne did well to punch a high ball clear and Dale Cockrill’s follow up shot went over as Lowestoft used the strong wind to their advantage. Dave Blower was caught out by a quick ball over the top but Clark’s dart into the box saw him run out of space.

Enfield’s efforts up front were being efficiently snuffed out but they did well to prevent Lowestoft going ahead before half time. A blistering run from Forshaw required an excellent intervention from Mark Kirby. When Forshaw picked out Cockrill just before half time, Blackburne was out quickly to smother the shot.

A much more effective second half from Enfield saw them take their turn to cause problems. A quick turn from Jordan Lockie allowed him to shoot to the near post, but Reynolds was alert. Nolan tried another long range effort, before Stuart Blackburne ran onto a ball over the top but his low shot was again saved well by Reynolds. Rudi Hall saw a corner headed behind, and Lockie put a ball into the Lowestoft box that caused a bit of confusion, but Enfield were unable to capitalise on it. Lowestoft were still a threat and Andy Jones making his 100th appearance for the club, needed to be alert, clearing a Cockrill ball from the danger zone. With the game becoming increasingly end to end, Adam Wallace chased down the ball as Reynolds appeared to make a mistake, but the keeper recovered in time. A long range shot from Lockie came to nothing then a great opportunity fell to Michael Bardle at the back post but he seemed caught in two minds, eventually trying to head the ball in to Stuart Blackburne only for the chance to disappear. Bardle then had a shot after a knock down from Blackburne, but it was well saved by Reynolds. Jamie Godbold fired a Lowestoft free kick into the wall after a foul on Forshaw. A good move from Enfield was started by an Andy Jones through ball which Stuart Blackburne played to Wallace, but the shot was tipped round the post.

The best chance for Enfield came when Stuart Blackburne spread the ball wide for Bardle to ping it in to Wallace on the goal line, but it hit his standing leg and he was unable to force it home, Lowestoft gratefully scrambling it clear. Lowestoft stepped up the pace in the last ten minutes and a good shot from Cockrill was saved by Blackburne. The Enfield keeper then punched clear off Danny Bloomfield’s head but was injured in the resulting collision. A speedy attack saw Godbold try to put Nolan clear but his ball was too strong. When Nolan was picked out moments later a great clearance by Kirby meant he was unable to take advantage. Blackburne got down well to a good shot from Bloomfield, and Blower did well to charge down a Gary Holt shot as the game opened up. Ben Hammond tried his luck with no result, as the game was destined to remain goalless. When Stuart Blackburne tried to cut between two defenders from the goal line, he appeared to be tripped, but no penalty was forthcoming in what was the final action of the match.

Lowestoft Town: Andy Reynolds, Scott Mitchell, Jack Marsden (Matthew Halliday 60), Gary Holt, Neil Plaskett, Matty Potter, Craig Bussens, Dale Cockrill, Matt Nolan, Joe Clark (Jamie Godbold 64), Jamie Forshaw (Danny Bloomfield 78).

I feel sorry for poor Royston the Coach Driver, he must have felt gutted after such a good journey up. Mind you it might have helped if you were able to actually Park the Coach nearer to the ground rather than a five mile hike away. And to make matters worse when he found somewhere to park, the local residents complaimed to the Police and he had to move it again. Crazy situation, surely a Club being Promoted into Ryman Premier should make proper provision for visitng Coaches to park, or even be allowed to drop off Players, Kit & Supporters. Pretty poor show I think :bartshocked:
