President Lech Kaczynski Tragedy

This is an opportunity for LATO to come out of the woodwork and pay his respects to his Countryman who tragically perished yesterday in a plane crash on the way to a Memorial Service to mark the 70th Anniversary of the infamous Katyn massacare during World War II when 22,000 Polish Officers died.

Did anybody, other than no doubt LATO, actually study the 'who's who' of individuals who sadly died alongside Lech Kaczynski in the awful plane disaster on 10 April. This included Kaczynski's wife Maria and they leave a daughter, Ryszard Kaczorowski, aged 90, a former Polish President, Canon Bronislaw Gostomski, the personal Chaplain to Kaczorowski and based in West London. Legendary Trade Union activist Anna Walentynowicz, aged 80, also perished as did highly decorated General Franciszek Gagor, Chief of the General Staff and former Defence Minister Jerzy Szmajdzinski. Incredibly, the Chief of the Air Staff, Andrzej Blasik, also perished as did Vice Chief of the Naval Staff Andrzej Karweta as well as Piotr Nurowski, Head of the Polish Olympic Committee and Aleksander Szczyglo, Chief of Poland's National Security Bureau and a former Defence Minister. Lastly Slawomir Skrzypek also died in the disaster, President of the National Bank of Poland, you have to ask the question why so many hugely distinguished people were allowed to fly together on an aircraft belonging to a fleet with an unreliable track record.

LATO - Actually I typed it all out myself from press information I had read, there was no ulterior motive as I am genuinely shocked that, as I said, so many distinguished people were allowed to fly together on an aircraft belonging to a fleet with an unreliable safety record.
